The beginning of a co-creative act of art aimed at building a community by experiencing spaces in which we practice tantra yoga, authentic relating, intuitive movement, dance, chanting and ritual in a non-pretentious and inclusive way. I am a 500H Kaula Tantra Yoga Certified Teacher (YAI, YA) - I come from a ballet background (14 years of classical ballet) and 10 years of performing as an actor. I
'm passionate about the arts, movement, mindfulness, health & wellbeing and love offering space for others to develop awareness and cultivate mindfulness through direct experience. Beyond the yoga realm, I sometimes take headshots for actors, I'm a childminder and I work in film production. WHAT IS TANTRA YOGA? Kaula Tantra Yoga is a non-pretentious and accessible to all levels ancient form of practice which offers a deeply restorative space to experience the relaxation of the body and stillness of the mind through repetition of guided movement, breath, sound and visualization. It's a non-aiming practice, designed to rebalance your yin and yang energies, great for the release of trauma and stress, physical tensions, aches and pains. IS TANTRA ABOUT SEX? Tantra is often reductively connected to themes around sexuality and relationship. Whilst these themes are definitely explored, in a beautiful and deep manner in this particular experience-oriented philosophy, Tantra is more broadly about the exploration of our relationship with everything and the enabling of our potential to promote contentment and confidence in all areas of life. In the class, there is no explicit mention to sexuality nor there is nudity involved, however, a particular focus is placed on the opening and releasing of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th chakras which are energy centres connected to how we relate to matters of (amongst others) for example security, relationship, love, identity, creativity and action. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER STYLES OF YOGA PRACTICES? Every yoga style has its own sequencing and technology, each one offers space and practice to develop awareness through direct experience of the body and the mind through a combination of movement, stillness, breath, meditation and chanting. Kaula Tantra Yoga is a restorative practice, it starts with a slow warm-up with a sequence of poses which leads into a period of visualization lying on the floor in savasana and continues with gentle movements initiated from deep relaxation.
