Affect emotions.

Obsessions (Thought Symptoms)

These are unwanted, repeated thoughts that cause stress or worry:

Constant fear of germs or dirt

Fear that something bad will happen

Repeated doubts (e.g., “Did I lock the door?”)

Unwanted thoughts about harm or mistakes

Thoughts that don’t match your values but keep coming again and again

Compulsions (Action Symptoms)

These are repeated actions or routines done to reduce anxiety:

Washing hands again and again

Checking locks, lights, or appliances repeatedly

Arranging things in a perfect order

Repeating words, counting, or touching things

Avoiding certain places or situations

General Symptoms

Feeling anxious when routines are not completed

Spending too much time in rituals (more than 1 hour a day)

Difficulty focusing because of repeated thoughts

Feeling guilty or stressed because of these behaviors
