If your holiday had your nervous system All activated then it’s possible it can stuck in a survival response - whatever the response is (fight,flight, freeze, etc) gentle reminders can help you get through as you weather this storm 🙏🏽

The people closest to the conflict in Gaza are feeling this most heavily as a community.

Witnessing genocide for 50 days on social media is shaping us - this is collective and our pain is collective. We heal collectively * dreaming up community healing spaces*. #

At the same people are acting from a place of fear. The inter generational trauma of people who come from a lineage of holocaust survivors are being activated too. There is fear everywhere it’s intense and shapes the way we experience current events.

I hope we can stay true to the humanity in us - that the actions of a Government does not represent that of all people associated with the government. That love for one side does not mean hate towards or disregard towards the pain of another group.

Sensations happen in the present time and focusing on your sensory experience is a sure way to bring yourself back into the present moment when experiencing a trauma trigger reaction! Stay with sensations - “I’m being triggered” how’s my heart beating? How’s my breathe? How’s my neck? My jaw my face? My vision? My body? Do I feel any urges to move in this moment? Where is my body in this moment?

July is the month dedicated to .

For me is every month - and the word minority makes me cringe so I’ve shared an alternative.

I hope this post helps serve as a reminder of the inequitable distribution of material resources (access to nutritious food, green space, mental health care, education), limited access to dignity, safety, and belonging that people from powerful groups targeted for oppression are exposed to.

Nervous system healing is a part of trauma healing. With trauma the NS is in a state of survival more often than not - so intentionally doing practices every day help soften the intensity of the hyperarousal. It’s the game of 10% each practice may help 10% or so and doing as many on a regular basis will be instrumental in all people healing from trauma. Create space for these if possible and choose whichever feel best to your body and NS.

My personal favorites are orienting, play, nature, deep pressure, rocking, lol I guess all of them I practice regularly 🤷🏽‍♀️

Healing generational wounds requires us to be curious and loving towards our personal and familial stories.

This requires paying close attention to our connectedness, body reactions, and sensations as we delve into our stories.

Looking into what happened to us or what didn’t happen for us is a vulnerable and emotionally charged journey to embark on. Do not rush into it, this is not the time to ‘push through’ because we need to honor the body’s innate wisdom when it constricts and sets a boundary through resisting exploration. Boundaries need to be honored, including the ones our bodies set for us.

If we continue to suppress or hide away the family secrets or adversity within our stories, the wounds represented by sensations, emotional energy will grow deeper and stronger.

To avoid this phenomena, get to know your sensations during shifts in moods or energy as you learn about your stories and lean into curiosity towards them. Breath into the sensations so as to make more room for them, honor their efforts at keeping you safe.

Providing alternatives to police because the truth is police officers are trained to ‘protect and serve’ (and maintain power structures). They’re usually not trained to de-escalate, respect, and support a person dealing with a mental health crisis.

So I always try and use an alternative to police when I have to call for a crisis check for someone. Here’s some resources I hope all find helpful. This is not an exhaustive list, rather a few key links that can link you to a more in depth list that is local in your area.
