Never thought I would talk about this, but parents need to know—
After age two, bed sharing sometimes becomes inevitable—depending on the situation you may be in, like traveling or a temporary setup.

After age 2, the risk of a SUID event drops dramatically due to several factors. At this age, a child is developmentally ready to sleep on an adult-sized mattress (twin, full, queen, etc.). At that point, it becomes more about making the sleep environment safe for their age:

Avoid gaps where they could become wedged (like between the bed and the wall) beds should be off the wall to reduce entrapment risk

Watch for heavy bedding and adult overlay & over heatin

Prevent falls from the bed-utilize rails

‼️ I still stand firm on this: bed sharing should never be done before age two under any circumstance.
Infants under two are extremely vulnerable. They need a firm, flat, and separate sleep surface. Room sharing is great—but I do not believe there is any way to safely bed share with an infant.

Not Safe for Sleep — Even If Your Baby Has Reflux

If you’re a tired mom searching for answers, I see you. 💛 I’ve had a baby with silent reflux and another with reflux and laryngomalacia—and I know how tempting it is to try anything that promises relief. But not all products are safe.⁣

This viral baby lounger claims to support “safe sleep” for reflux—but it’s actually a suffocation risk.⁣
⚠️ Inclined position can compress airways
⚠️ Plush memory foam = unsafe surface
⚠️ Safety straps = a red flag for infant sleep⁣

👉🏼 Even with reflux, flat, firm & on the back is safest. Always.⁣

Please don’t fall for fear-based marketing that preys on exhausted parents. You deserve evidence-based info—not anxiety traps.⁣

SAVE this post for later & share with a new mama who needs to hear this. You’re doing an amazing job, even on the hard days. 💛

Is your baby too hot to sleep safely? 🥵🌙

Summer temps are rising — and so is the risk of overheating during sleep. Babies can’t regulate their body temperature like adults, and that means even a warm nursery can become unsafe.

Here’s what to look for, how to keep your baby cool, and why overheating matters more than most people realize.

When it’s time to transition here is a checklist to START off of…

SAVE this for later!
we want to make sure their room is a safe space for your toddler to be when they’re unsupervised, because they will potentially get out of their bed and wander/explore the room.

✨So when would you transition?✨

-MOST cribs have height limits of use, this is typically 35” tall
-if your child is attempting to climb out of their crib
-I don’t recommend transitioning out until they have maxed out the crib or it’s unsafe, transitioning too early is not safe but transitioning too late could be dangerous.

What is safe and when?
-a toddler bed is safe at 15 months+
-a twin/full/single bed is safe at age 2

I am sure the questions will stir up after this! So ask me any questions you have in the comments or head to my story for a question box (for the next 24 hours)

Lastly, if you’re overwhelmed with the entire process reach out to a professional child-proofer in your area for support! Each room and circumstance is different and can get pretty nutty gritty. This list is a base to start off and does not apply to each situation. | transitioning out of crib | | toddler room safety | | toddler bedroom | | transition to big kid bed|

solidarity, parenting is the most tiring thing in the world and some days—we don’t even know how we’re going to make it through. It’s important to keep your child’s best into rest in the forefront of your mind. Hugs 🤍

LITTLE SLEEPIES RECALL ALERT 🚨

This is a voluntary recall, kudos to for being proactive and issuing a recall of their product before any injuries occurred. There are several different prints and animals of these products. Check the tag, or most of the loveys have the animal/shape face at the top, rectangle patten with the ties in 4 corners.

Please always make sure you’re checking your products, thinking about products you’ve given as a gift, sharing recalls, and looking at items you have received. Never donate or resell a product that has been recalled. Little Sleepies resell is very very popular on sites like bamboo BST sites, Poshmark, mericari, and Facebook marketplace so please be sure to watch out for them.
