So many women struggle silently in the postpartum period with breastfeeding challenges. Please share my research occasionally, especially if you know anyone who is a new mum. Check in with new mums - my research found that it’s normal to struggle at the beginning. Our last national survey of over 5000 Australian breastfeeding women found that 94% of them had challenges at some point (most often at the beginning). The women that we surveyed were contacted through the Australian Breastfeeding association and it’s likely that they are the lucky ones that had a better experience and women who were unable to bf and had to go straight to the bottle were probably missed in our research. What I’m saying is - everyone’s having a hard time. Just check in, a little practical support can mean so much ❤️‍🩹

Breastfeeding isn’t always a peaceful, bonding experience between parent and child. As many as 1 in 5 women say that they felt an intense aversion to breastfeeding.
