Health is a vital component of having a productive, sickness-free, and meaningful life. It allows us to explore life and the world to our hearts content, without disabilities and health problems that hinder us from reaching our goals and desires. As nurses, the members of the group have a primary duty to promote optimal health to everyone and help them achieve wellness that makes their bodies and minds sound. It is our responsibility to teach them ways to prevent getting sick and empower them to live their life as healthy as possible. This can be achieved in many ways. However, the most common yet one of the effective measures are promoting a good lifestyle, eating habits, and involvement in physical activities. These three are all interrelated and an impairment in one affects the other. These should be balanced to have a fit body capable of sustaining one’s daily needs and be able to protect the individual from developing some diseases.
Doing these activities can be sometimes hard to implement, especially when habits are already established. It is difficult to influence practices that have become a part of someone’s life. For example, it will be a challenge to promote healthy eating and a balanced diet to someone who is fond of eating junk and fast food. Sedentary people would be hard to convince to engage in physical activities or have an exercise routine that is tiresome if they find comfort and convenience sitting on the couch watching TV. It is hard to change a vice of smoking or drinking too much alcohol if someone already had an addiction with these substances. One factor that prevents them from changing their habits can be attributed to a lack of education and information about healthy living and how the other can bring forth unpleasant repercussions on their health. Obliviousness of things detrimental to our health makes us repulsive about changing our harmful habits and conforming to what can be beneficial to our health.
In line with this, we aim to open the eyes and minds of the people of how harmful habits can negatively affect their life, and at the same time recommend ways on how to promote one’s health. We seek to create a hub of information where people can conveniently access health information and gain their motivation to live in wellness. To successfully do this, we aim to provide research and evidence-based information, incorporating the learnings we had in our subjects in nursing and the concept of physical fitness, and integrate them into our advocacy of having informed health choices and habits towards achieving a meaningful life, free from the chains of health problems.
Thank you for being here and let us attain that health goals!
