I have written this paragraph as a follow up to why people with Asperger's syndrome do not belong in facilities for autistic people. Many people may be unaware of the methods and rules used in these places and what aspies are being exposed to when they are put there. They may also not be aware of how these methods differ from a regular group home. The methods used in these places are unlike methods used anywhere else and I will let you know about the methods used that are NOT okay to use with aspies in any way.

One of the methods used in an elementary school for Autistic children was running kids up and down the stairs as a punishment. When I asked a teacher in a regular elementary school if they punish kids in this way she told me "No they don't". Other methods that are used in place for autistic children that they don't use in regular group homes is making kids scrub floors as a punishment. This is what I would call corporate punishment which just ISN'T suitable for aspies, In a group home for Autistic children they made ALL of the kids there attend summer school because Autistic children don't know how to manage their time and for other reasons as well, If an aspie is in that setting they would be forced to attend summer school too, which is completely unfair to an aspie since Aspies do know how to manage their time and DON'T need to be exposed to the same rules as an autistic child does. Facilities for autistic children do not let the children go out without supervision, because some autistic children may need supervision, but aspies SURELY DO NOT need that and yet that is what aspies are being subjected to when they are placed in those kind of environments.

Also kids in these places are FORCED to participate in a FULL day of activities and are NOT given and time to rest or relax. An aspie DOESN'T need those kind of rules at all. The staff at these homes are allowed to restrain children, which is NOT allowed in a regular group home and aspies don't need to be restrained at all. Homes for autistic children only give a portioned about of food at meals which may leave an aspie quite hungry. Like I said the rules and methods in these places designed for autistic people just DON'T jive with aspies. So it IS time that they were stopped being placed there.
