The more conversations I have had with people in the last year discussing s*x and s*xual behaviours, the more I hear “Oh, that’s weird” and that’s what this post is all about I guess. Embracing the “that’s weird” and exploring what we find some s*xual behaviours more unsettling than the others.

It’s 4 year SLOversary and let me start by declaring that I am alive and burning an alarming amount of sage for my burnout student brain (kidding, i don’t have the energy to burn anything).

Excusez moi for being very absent this year, but I am having an amazing (and exhausting) journey as a s*xology student, navigating my life in a new country, and networking and figuring out what the future holds for me.

Despite being absent here, I still had the opportunity to contribute towards some really cool stuff like:
> I got to co-author a chapter for the new S*xuality and Intimacy: An Occupational Therapy Approach textbook edited by Dr Ellis and Dr Ungco (which a must read).
> I had the incredible honour of contributing (in my little ways) towards AOTA’s resource for OTs role in transgender and gender diverse individuals care.
> I recently started volunteering with the advocacy sub-committee of Society for Australian S*xologists and hopefully, I have more cool things to do and learn.
> And wrote little wisdom nuggets about s*x for magazines (linked in my bio).

All in all, it was not a very “ virtually social” year for me, but I religiously updated the resource section on my website. So if you are starting out on your journey or wish to learn more, there is something for everyone (link in bio). In the meantime, I appreciate you all for patiently waiting and engaging with this space. I promise it will be over for everyone once I find my creative personality and motivation back. Until then, keep at it my littul s*xuality nerds x

Explicit conversations about what your intentions are about dating, relationships, life, and s*x was and will always will be hot. You don’t have to go all in and you don’t have to get it all right—you just have to start somewhere.

There’s a lot of noise about how these conversations should look like and how they need to be framed a certain way, but it really doesn’t matter as much. It’s just our over-perception bias of how we think other’s might be expecting these conversations to go, when in reality, most people just want you to say whatever you feel instead of leaving them to assume and figure out what you need.

Nobody can read your mind and you should rather not displace this kind of an expectation on anyone no matter where you are in your journey of dating and relationships. And if you do not want to communicate, let them know that too. You are entitled to your emotions and thoughts, but so are other’s. They are human beings who feel and think, so feel free to make little f**k ups through communication than not taking a chance at all!

This was very interesting disclaimer as we begun our s*xological values and attitudes unit this week where we spoke about being judgment aware. I absolutely understand we have used claims of becoming “judgment-free” but not actively acknowledging that we do and will have opinions about our clients. Making judgments, positive, negative or neutral is subconscious process. These opinions and assumptions about other people can also happen given how many clients we seen over a period of time and that can condition us in some ways. While this can be beneficial during rehabilitation and recognising effective treatment strategies, it can also be harmful if we aren’t aware or constantly reflect back on if we have made any assumptions through this process and be aware of those judgments and assumptions.

And I guess that’s the thing–therapists are humans too and all humans judge (consciously or subconsciously). What matters here is how you reflect back and be aware of these judgments that can pop in before and during therapeutic relationships, and what can you do to reduce harming your clients and/or your therapeutic relationship with them.

Pervertibles are everyday, non-erotic items that can be easily converted into s*x toys. From spatulas to throw pillows, DIY-ing s*x toys can help in expanding your erotic imagination and increase your pleasure possibilities.

Disclaimer: Pervertibles are only a temporary option and I would not suggest relying on them for long-term use as they are not medically tested or body safe.

Hello Earthlings,
After what feels like an eternity, I'm back and this time I have news to share—I have moved to Australia!

I love what I do and learn about s*xology and occupational therapy through my clients, but I know something is missing and I can offer a lot more. I always wanted to pursue my education further and the stars have aligned in a way where I can actually do so. I will be studying Master of S*xology for the next few months.

It is definitely a transition, but whenever the inspiration strikes you will see me back here.

To new beginnings and more learnings 🥂

If I had a penny for everytime someone told me that they are ___ years old and still can't figure out their s*xuality, I'd be rich af!

The truth is, it does not matter how old you are or what kind of relationship experience you have—life is going to happen anyway and toss away everything you learned about yourself. So if you think you have your s*xuality all figured out know that this is possible only because you never had to question it or feel challenged by it until now.

Like it or not, all aspects of our being affect our s*xuality and this can show up today, tomorrow, months later or decades later. But whenever it does show up, it's a sign that your body and mind need you to pay attention to something they can't solve on their own. This isn't age dependent. It happens to EVERYONE and can happen at any stage of life. So instead of spending time worrying that you failed at getting this right, use it get your body, mind, and relationships the help they need and deserve!

About Me

I am a S*xuality, Mental Health, and OT advocate, writer, and practitioner. I work in adult home health care and as a school-based OT. My work is holistic in nature- explores around integration of s*xuality in OT practices for people of all age groups (infants, kids, teens, young adults, adults, and older population).

Additionally, I run this platform to make OTs and other healthcare professionals aware about the scope and depth of Occupational Therapy practice in this domain, and equip them with right tools to create change personally and professionally.
