"The Emotional Rollercoaster"

Artist Statememt:
“It’s a visual symbol of an emotional imbalance that sometimes takes up a life of its own. With no self-control and no warning to give yourself a heads up for what you are about to experience. This here shows an emotional rollercoaster with colors showing timid and staggering movements in the very center. It’s like a river of flowing narrow water and the current is moving without tranquility. An uncontrollable movement where you are just in for the ride but you have no control of the emotional state that you would randomly become a conduit to. It’s continuously busy without any rest and it becomes hard to manage and even overwhelming.

The top half of the painting is the heightened part of the emotional turns. Here, you experience an intense sense of euphoria and great happiness. With no reason or explanation, you’re just happily thrilled. It feels great and is the better part of the emotional rollercoaster. The bottom half of the painting is the lows, and it’s not the best feeling. It’s more of your quiet and depressed state. You have no clue how you got here, but all you know is that you are here, and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s a tough place to be in because you have no control over how long this state can last. Here is the ever continuous cycle of the emotional ride of the hypomania mind.”

Mental Health Journeys

We are working on writing and producing short films regarding mental health. We want these films to be authentic and representative and to do this we need your help!

We plan to post prompts that ask questions about mental health experiences. If you are comfortable and ready to share your story, we would love to listen and learn.
