I was asked to co-write an article for a magazine!! 🙂
In doing so, it made me reflect on representation within the media of s*x education, relationships, and anatomical diversity.
S*x education is limited, period. What is presented is almost solely cisgendered, straight, white couples.👩❤️👨
“The S*x”
Let’s pretend for a moment that the following reality exists: that everyone reading these articles only wanted to learn about the type of s*x that they were having from individuals that looked just like them, having the same type of s*x they also have.
How freaking boring!! 😒And yet that’s the breadth of most of our easily accessible s*x education.
Here is what is presented in the media - Let me know in the comments with a “YES!” If you fall anywhere outside of this bubble presented.
✨✨“I am a thin, white, cisgendered person, in a happy marriage with another thin, white, cisgendered person… and we aren’t curious about any other kind of s*x. I never want to see another kind of s*x, gender, or relationship portrayed because that’s of no interest to me. We only like pen*s-in-vagina type s*x without any curiosity of how we can explore bodies in other ways. I never physically hurt or struggle with body image and flexibility, so I enjoy seeing other thin, white people bend each other in 10 different pretzelish shapes. I never fantasize about any other type of s*xual experience and so, therefore, I don’t need to learn about them.”✨✨
It’s so ridiculous, yet that’s how “The S*x” is represented.
Think how much we all could learn from each other if we presented all individuals!
