To all my Ladies with Buddha Bellies!

If you're struggling with weightloss and being able to gain momentum with movement, please check out Dr. Mindy Pelz and Fast Like a Girl!

Since I have obtained the information on intermitten fasting, I've lost 50lbs since October of 2023 and you can to!

This app is so helpful for tracking those hours of fasting and what stage your in!

A few weeks ago I competed my first 72 hour - it was defiantly special and it took 8 months to build up to it!

I love it cuz I can still eat what I want. I'm a foodie!

The year before, I also tried Noom for the mental part and relearning portion control and types of food that produce better results.

Check with your doctor before starting any program!

🏠 Environment!

My practice tonight was located in my space outside. It's beautiful out here in Medicine Hat, Alberta ! 8 degrees and clear!

🎶 Music is always good, but quiet can be just as effective!

For myself, it ranges from twilight on CKUA Radio , cello/classical, soft jazz, and even healing frequencies like:
https://www.youtube.com/live/N7gwE-R3b8M?si=U6Jgys8fQwS4rebf

🧘‍♀️ Tools needed:
Mats, straps, blocks, bolters, and blankets.

💚 A chair and a clear wall space are recommended for retorative practice as you develop your connection.

💙 My goal tonight was core/hip alignment and strengthening utilizing the tree poses and rear end muscle lengthening with forward folds from the hip.

My hamstrings and back, sooooo needed it!😮‍💨

🧘‍♀️ When should you practice? - Anytime you need it!

You can have a morning routine, a break at work routine, and/or an end of the day routine.

🧘‍♀️ How long should you practice? Well, that depends.

Always start with a full body warm-up🕉, pick a few asanas (or maybe just one) to work on the alignment, and learn to breathe within them before connecting them into a longer session.

It's a wobbly process, but with practice, you'll have more stability and confidence in yourself!

🧘‍♀️Dont forget to cool down and give thanks. Namaste!

Can you handle 30 minutes? Cool!

(Yes, that's my Ben-Ben giving kisses as I sette into a wide leg forward fold). 🥰🐾

Education is important when you're trying to heal, and to help others heal themselves.

Knowing how the body works and responds to therapy is all its forms is crucial, as well as knowing the limitations and contraindications of each individual!

Who's behind PHY Phat Hatha Yoga Therapy?

Well, it's just me, Tara Martice.

What's my background?

Certified Therapeutic Massage Therapist:

🙌 Graduated from S.A.I.M. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61552952160787&mibextid=ZbWKwL in 2001

Practice for 6 years in Calgary, Alberta and specialized in:

💚 Trigger Point Therapy
💚 Deep Tissue Therapy
💚 Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

We all know what happened in 2020 - COVID.

So during the lockdown, to better myself, I signed up for the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification Program through
https://www.facebook.com/SiddhiYogaInter?mibextid=ZbWKwL

I was halfway through the program when on June 18th, 2021, I experienced my first major vehicle accident that left me with multiple soft tissue injuries in the hip and neck that hurrled me 10 years into the future of hip and lower back arthritis with a side of migraines.

It's been a process that I will never forget and yes, was traumatizing to the point of needing to reevaluate my abilities, what strengths I had left, my new weaknesses and learning to find new coping tools for just life.

My old coping tools consisted of remodelling my new-to-me house, weight lifting and extensive year-round outdoor activities. I had ambition through my work and yes, you could have considered me a workaholic as an independent single adult female with all her ducks in a row, ready for the next level in life and work.

I loved every minute of it!

After the first 3 months off work, I restarted the yoga program, however, I had to start over with the restorative practice.

As I advocated for help, I slowly got it. However, it wasn't consistent and my issues were with my fascia, ligaments and trauma. I had gained weight, had started to overconsume again and ballooned back to 325LBS. I had serious work to do if I were to remain independent and at minimum get my mental health back.

🙌 On December 24th I completed and received my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certificate.

Today, I work part-time as a Shelter Worker for The Mustard Seed and casully a Certified Professional Dog Trainer at Dog Training with Tara Martice.

My focus is to support and help those who:

💚 carry extra weight
💚 have social anxiety
💚 have trauma

I am new to the yoga industry but not to therapy. I am only taking on clients by direct referral (your therapist must contact me directly).

💜 I'm still working on myself
💜 I still carry extra weight
💜 I will always have restrictions on my abilities.

My rates are currently being calculated, and I know how much working on yourself costs. So don't worry, I will work with you no matter what your financial situation is.

Compassion through Action.

Namaste!

Talk with your doctor before starting any therapy.

But also talk to your Heart, Your Body, Your Mind and Your Soul.

Then just listen and breathe.

"Om" or 🕉️ = Sacred spiritual symbol

Ohm = unit of energy ⚡

🕉️ is a very old and classical sound or mantra that represents the creation of the universe, beginning with a sound.

🕉️ symbolically embodies the divine energy and its three main characteristics of creation, preservation, and liberation.

Some people think about 🕉️ as a way to bring those three parts of your self—the mind the body and the spirit—together."

🕉️ has ties to Buddhism, where it refers to compassion and connection.

Now, what will you use 🕉️ for?

Namaste!

What is Phat Hatha Yoga Therapy?

Phat Hatha Yoga is a restorative practice that supports the reconnection of your body and mind.

The Therapy is completely your own.

Why the Green Tara Buddha?

Because here we believe in compassion through action.

Picture description:

Green Tara's left hand is in the refuge granting mudra (gesture); her right hand makes the giving gesture.

In her hands, she also holds closed blue lotuses, which symbolize purity and power.

The history of the goddess Tara predates Buddhism, as she began and remains a prominent Hindu goddess who manifests the Mother Goddess, Mahadevi. However, in Buddhism, she is part of a long line of Buddhas, or enlightened beings, who guide people to spiritual excellence.

Reciting the mantra is used for protection from negative influences and fears. Tara, often depicted with a compassionate and nurturing demeanour, is a source of protection.

Chanting the Green Tara mantra invokes her energies, creating a shield against negative forces that seek to impede our spiritual journey.

Green Tara Mantra:

"Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha"

Found a nice 1-minute video on how to say it:

Namaste!
