WELLNESS WEDNESDAY!!!
Ok, I’m going to share personal information today as an example of how we get caught up in fitness/health/weight loss trends. These trends are not always what OUR body needs but unless we are in tune, how will we know! It’s so easy to get caught up in what we see working for others, right?
Just so you know, I thoroughly research health topics and I’m very particular on who I listen to or I read medical journals to decide what I think is credible. Social media is not credible FYI 🤪
So, I haven’t felt great this last year. I had lots of pain from an injury, then surgery, etc. Not my best year but I did try to focus on high nutrition and modify my workouts best I could. Previously after doing lots of research and testing it for myself, I did intermittent fasting. I felt good, lost a little body fat and gained energy and hoped that I attained autophagy (optimizing cellular performance, rejuvenation). If it worked before then try it again.
I logged my days with how I felt, slept, ate, exercised etc. Even the “bad” days. Looking at it as a whole I did pretty good but still felt awful.
Give it more time….. still not great. What gives?
My body fat isn’t budging so that makes you look at lots of factors. Calories too high, too low? Stress? Hydration? Energy output? Then I look at hormones. Schedule a Dr visit, bloodwork, etc. Plus, I start testing my blood sugar levels at different times of day. Bingo.!
My fasting glucose is too high. All other levels are normal range. Guess what fixes it? Protein before bed and eating first thing in the morning. My body needs small meals more often and fasting is not the way to go for me right now.
So, here’s my point. If we jump on trends and don’t pay attention to our own body’s signals how will we know if what we are doing really works well for us? I’m pretty persistent. I could have stayed the course a long time and just pushed through!!! I’m glad I didn’t and I have so much more energy and I’m reaching my goals much easier now. Stay in tune with yourself and you do you!
