World Pharmacist Day: Association of Lady Pharmacists Kogi Chapter Sensitize Students on Pharmacy as a Career Path

As part of the World Pharmacist Day celebrations, the Association of Lady Pharmacists in Kogi State organized a sensitization campaign at GYB Model Secondary School, Adankolo, Lokoja. The campaign aimed to educate students about the noble profession of pharmacy and encourage them to consider it as a future career path. This year’s World Pharmacist Day theme, “Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs,” was a focal point throughout the event.

The event was led by the Chairperson, Pharmacist Kudirat Nasiru, Consultant Clinical Pharmacist Federal University Lokoja Health Centre, who, in her opening remarks, expressed deep appreciation for the invaluable services rendered by pharmacists across various workplaces. She emphasized that the role of pharmacists in healthcare is immeasurable and essential to meeting global health needs, echoing the theme of the year.

The guest speaker, Pharmacist Salamat Ize, Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency (KSDMSMA), praised the efforts of the Association and the support from the Kogi State Government. She commended the state's initiative in establishing quality educational institutions like the GYB Model Secondary School. Pharmacist Salamat urged the students to leverage the opportunities provided by the government under His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, and consider pursuing a career in pharmacy, a field essential for addressing global health challenges.

In her comprehensive lecture, Pharmacist Salamat detailed the various fields within pharmacy, the critical roles pharmacists play, and the importance of proper drug administration and usage. Pharmacist Salamat Ize, the Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency (KSDMSMA), has congratulated His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on the Supreme Court’s affirmation of his electoral victory as the Governor of Kogi State.

In her statement, Pharmacist Salamat expressed deep satisfaction with the judiciary’s role in upholding justice and truth, despite the formidable pressure exerted by the opposition. She praised the Supreme Court for standing firm in its commitment to fairness and the rule of law, ensuring that the voice of the people, as expressed in the gubernatorial elections, was respected and preserved.

*Pharm Salamat Welcomes Governor Ahmed Ododo to Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency, Describes the Governor as Mr. Project*

The Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency, Pharmacist Salamat Ize, has described His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, as "Mr. Project," who has achieved a great deal in just his first 100 days in office.

The Executive Secretary gave this commendation while delivering a welcome address during the flagging off of medical equipment and consumables, including antimalarial doses for preventive chemotherapy for children, by the Governor at the premises of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency in Lokoja.

Pharmacist Salamat recounted how the Governor built a world-class hospital in Upogoro, Okene Local Government Area, while he was the Auditor General for Local Government. She further highlighted the Governor's achievements within his first 100 days in office, which include the approval for the renovation of 63 primary healthcare facilities across the state, the implementation of hazard allowances for medical and health workers in Kogi State, the launching of the Kogi State Health Insurance Scheme, and the recent approval for the upgrading of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency to an e-Pharma-grade level.

The Executive Secretary added that Kogi residents are now very proud of their decision to vote him into power and describe him as "Mr. Project."

Pharmacist Salamat also took the opportunity to commend the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams, whom she described as a morale booster, always available and willing to listen and offer guidance.

She concluded by expressing her gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve as the Executive Secretary of the agency, promising to remain committed to upholding the goals of the Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo administration and striving to exceed expectations.
