Who has mad math skills? 🤔

In February 1938, Popular Mechanics Magazine printed an article claiming h**p to be the next “Billion-Dollar Crop.”

I was curious. What would a billion dollars in 1938 translate to in 2017? I looked it up on a U.S. inflation calculator and that number looks like this:
$17,360,709,219.86

To put that in perspective, $1.00 in 1938 had the same buying power as $17.36 in 2017.

"It’s not like our economy could use it or anything like that (she says sarcastically)". 🤦‍♀️🙄
