Let’s talk about something many women were never told about birth control.

Your gut is like a garden, full of beneficial bacteria that help regulate digestion, immune function, and hormone balance.

But synthetic hormones in birth control don’t just impact ovulation. They can also disrupt the balance of bacteria in your gut, sometimes wiping out beneficial strains that your body depends on for good health.

When that balance shifts, your microbiome loses an important part of its foundation, and when that foundation is weakened, other problems can develop.

This is Part 1 of my 3-part series explaining how birth control can impact gut health.

Come back for Part 2 to learn what happens when beneficial bacteria disappear and how that can lead to something called leaky gut, which may trigger symptoms like bloating, fatigue, skin issues, and food sensitivities.

If you’ve ever experienced gut changes, digestive issues, or unexplained symptoms and wondered why, you’re not alone.

Follow along so you don't miss the rest of the series!

This is a true story and that is REAL pain in this video. 💯

Now I know I’m getting old. I’m dealing with gluteal tendinopathy — and if you’ve never heard of it, you’re not alone. It’s incredibly common in perimenopausal women because hormonal shifts cause serious tendon inflammation. Overnight it went from zero to sleeping-on-the-couch pain. Crossing my legs, standing up, any hip movement — all of it hurts.
What so many of us don’t realize is that perimenopause doesn’t just bring hot flashes and mood shifts. It shows up in our JOINTS. Our TENDONS. Our muscles. And it can stop you in your tracks.

What musculoskeletal symptoms have you experienced that you think are hormone related? Joint pain? Hip issues? Frozen shoulder? Achilles problems? Let’s talk about it — because this conversation needs to happen more. 💛

If you’re a woman in your 30s-50s and your body suddenly feels different… you’re not imagining it.

The women I work with aren’t lazy, dramatic, or doing anything wrong.

They’re exhausted from trying everything and still not feeling like themselves.

They’ve changed their diet, tried the supplements, worked out harder, and pushed through the exhaustion.

And when they finally ask for help, they’re often told:
“Your labs look normal." or "This is just part of getting older.” or “Try to manage your stress.”

But deep down, they know something isn't right. They want someone who will actually listen. Someone who takes their symptoms seriously and helps them understand what their body is trying to say.

If any part of this resonates with you, I want you to know something:

You’re not crazy, your symptoms matter, and your body is not working against you.

It’s communicating.

If this sounds like your experience, comment “ME” below.

Sometimes the first step toward feeling better is simply realizing you’re not the only one going through it.

And if you’re ready to start understanding what your body is trying to say, you can book a session with me today: programs.amandaallmaras.com/15-min-consultation

You’re also welcome to save this post and come back to it later if it resonates. ❤

Have you ever been told your labs look normal… but you still don’t feel like yourself?

You’re exhausted.
You’re not sleeping well.
The weight won’t budge no matter what you try.
Stress feels impossible to manage.
And suddenly you’re irritable with everyone around you.

But because your labs are “normal,” you’re told everything is fine.

If this sounds familiar, I want you to hear this: your symptoms are real.

Your body can be sending signals long before something shows up clearly on standard lab tests.

You deserve someone who will listen, take your concerns seriously, and help you understand what your body is trying to communicate.

If you’ve been feeling this way, let’s talk.

🚨 Parents — have you heard of myositis in kids? I hadn’t seen it in my career until it happened to my own son. 🦵

After a virus passed through our house, he went from wrestling on Friday to barely being able to walk by Saturday. His calves were rock solid and every step was painful.

Here’s what to know:
✅ Myositis = inflammation of the muscles, most commonly affecting the calves after a viral illness
✅ It can happen while kids are acutely sick OR during recovery
✅ Symptoms range from a painful, stiff walk to some kids literally crawling
✅ It can become serious — watch for dark or cola-colored urine (a sign muscles are breaking down)
✅ Push fluids to help the kidneys flush out those byproducts
✅ Don’t be surprised if it seems worse after rest — slow, gradual movement can actually help

If your child suddenly can’t walk or is in significant leg pain after being sick, trust your gut and get them checked.

Sometimes what looks dramatic… actually is. 💙

What a full Saturday. 🎤 Spoke to the local Lions Club on hormones & longevity, got a mini farm education touring local (moo), and soaked up some rare one-on-one time with one of my kids. When you have a big crew, solo moments hit different. 🐄❤️

Bloating after every meal isn’t just uncomfortable — it’s a message.

Most people think bloating is normal because it’s common. It’s not.

When you consistently bloat after eating, your gut lining may be irritated or inflamed. Your body is struggling to break food down properly — and over time, that affects way more than just your stomach.

Signs the bloating is inflammation-related:
→ Happens regardless of what you eat
→ Comes with fatigue after meals
→ Paired with brain fog, skin issues, or joint aches
→ You feel “full” but still hungry

This isn’t about cutting out food groups. It’s about figuring out why your gut is reacting in the first place.
