🚶♂️ Understanding the Sacroiliac Joint Motion During Walking! 🦴
During our daily walk, our sacroiliac joint undergoes some fascinating motions:
**At right heel strike [A (1) & (2)]**:
1️⃣ Right part of the pelvis rotates backward, while the left moves forward.
2️⃣ The base of our spine (sacrum) turns left while the top remains level. Our spine stays straight but turns leftward.
**At right mid-stance [A (3) & (4)]**:
3️⃣ Our right leg straightens, and the right pelvis rotates forward.
4️⃣ The sacrum turns right and bends left. Our lower back bends right and turns left.
**At left heel strike [B (5) & (6)]**:
5️⃣ The left pelvis starts its forward motion.
6️⃣ As our toes leave the ground, the right pelvis moves back. Our sacrum remains level but turns its front surface rightward. The spine remains straight but also turns right, just like our lower torso.
**At left leg stance [B (7) & (8)]**:
7️⃣ The left pelvis raises as the leg remains straight.
8️⃣ The sacrum turns left and bends right. Our lower back bends left and turns left.
Walking might seem simple, but our body goes through intricate adjustments to make it smooth. Take a moment to appreciate these inner mechanics the next time you stroll! 🚶♀️👟
