The Mona Lisa 🎨

Painted in the early 1500s by Leonardo da Vinci, the Mona Lisa is one of the most recognised artworks in history. Known for her subtle smile, balanced proportions, and soft blending of tones, the painting has fascinated viewers for centuries. Leonardo’s careful observation of the human face and his gentle layering of colour created a portrait that feels calm, lifelike, and quietly mysterious.

This week, our art class explored this iconic artwork in a creative and approachable way. Using oil pastels, everyone created their own version of the Mona Lisa, building around the face and hands while expressing the rest of the artwork through colour, texture, and personal style. The results were incredibly creative and full of individuality, showing how a historical artwork can still inspire fresh and modern interpretations.

It was wonderful to see confidence, curiosity, and creativity all in one room.

Fish in a Bag Fun with Acrylic Paint 🐠

Sometimes the simplest ideas create the biggest smiles. This week in our kids art class, we painted a fish in a bag using acrylic paint, and the kids did an absolutely awesome job. Watching them mix colours, add details, and bring their fish to life was such a joy.

Each artwork was full of personality and creativity, and the children were so proud of what they created. Messy hands, big imaginations, and lots of excitement filled the room. These moments are exactly why art is so special for children.

This week we explored the beautiful world of printmaking by carving palm trees into rubber blocks and creating bold, striking prints.

There is something so satisfying about the process, the careful carving, the reveal of the design, and the moment the print comes to life on paper.

Printmaking teaches patience, positive and negative space, and the joy of creating something simple yet powerful.

This week, they painted a beautiful vase filled with roses, and the results were absolutely stunning. The care, creativity, and joy they poured into their work was so special to witness. Each painting was unique, full of colour, and completely beautiful in its own way.

✨🎨 Calling all little creators 🎨✨

Kids Art Classes are coming this January and we are so excited. Starting Thursday 29 January 2026, children can join us from 4:00 to 5:00pm for an hour of colourful creativity, imagination, and hands on fun.

Each week we will paint, print, build, draw, and explore new materials while learning inspiring ideas from artists and art styles along the way. It is the perfect after school space for children to relax, express themselves, and feel proud of what they create.

The full term is $199, with all materials provided, and Afterpay is available. Spots are limited, so if you have a child who loves making, creating, or getting delightfully messy with art, this is for them.

🇦🇺🎨 Adult Beginner Art Class on Australia Day 🎨🇦🇺

What a special way to spend Australia Day, gathered in a small and intimate art class filled with creativity and calm. This week we painted hibiscus flowers, and it felt so beautifully relevant to Australia, with their vibrant tropical colour and warm summer presence.

It was especially lovely to see everyone giving it a go without fear, simply showing up with openness and curiosity. That is where creativity truly begins.

Art is not just about the finished piece. It is about the journey. Every artwork begins with inspiration, grows through exploration and planning, and comes to life through making, refining, and reflecting. Each step matters and each step teaches us something new about creativity and ourselves.

Understanding the art making process helps build confidence and removes the pressure to be perfect. It reminds us that mistakes are part of learning and that creativity unfolds layer by layer. When we trust the process, art becomes freeing, joyful, and deeply rewarding.

This is the heart of what we do in our classes. Creating with intention, curiosity, and courage. One step at a time.

Did you know that we are offering kids art classes?

Art plays a powerful role in children’s development. Research shows that creative activities support brain growth by strengthening connections linked to problem solving, emotional regulation, and memory. When children engage in art making, multiple areas of the brain are activated at once, supporting focus, planning, and flexible thinking. Art also strengthens fine motor skills, which are closely connected to early writing and academic confidence.

Art nurtures the whole child, not just the mind. It offers a safe, non-verbal way for children to express feelings, build confidence, and develop resilience. Through art, children learn patience, persistence, and that mistakes are part of learning and growth. Creating art helps children feel calm, capable, and proud of their efforts, while supporting emotional wellbeing and a healthy sense of self.
