Dear Black Man.
This is your season to start a healing journey. This is the time for you to work on being the best version of yourself. It all begins with healing your past traumas. Yes, the history of colonialism makes us born into trauma. So, even if you were not abused by parents, neighbours or teachers, there’s a lot of other ways to experience trauma if you live in this era.
This is the time to rid yourself of the victim mindset of blaming the past (colonialism, parents, ex-partners) and even the current (white people, parents, partner, children, boss etc) and design the future that YOU want. While acknowledging the effects of the past and the present is the first step to healing, living in that state can only lead to discomfort, disaster, distress and disappointment. It can only lead to depression, divorce, debt and ultimately death.
As it stands, you’re told that you’re a leader, expected to step up and yet you keep bleeding over those who are around you. Your friends and (especially) your family keep paying the price of dealing with your unhealed self. Your wounded inner child keeps making decisions for your adult self and others. Imagine allowing a traumatised 5 year old who grew up in a violent community or home to make adult decisions. It’s a disaster waiting to happen. Imagine an abandoned teen boy making adult decisions. The longing and the feelings of rejection keep going in that adult body. The young boy in an adult body begins a search for healing and fulfilment but he doesn’t know how to. He then finds solace in promiscuity, substance abuse (drugs, to***co and alcohol), and the eventually sees no ways out and dies by su***de. The su***des of 3 the black male celebrities in 2022 say it all.
Therapy is likely lead to your healing. I must warn you though, finding a therapist is like dating. You may not find your “fit” during your first encounter with one. Keep looking until you do. Then stick it out no matter how challenging and painful it is.
Once your past traumas are resolved, you can then assume your true identity, free of the colonial or abuse-related traumas. Only when that’s done will you live up to your true potential; your Higher Self. Only when your spirit heals will your mind and body heal. Only when you master and lead yourself first from a healed point will you be able to successfully and effectively lead others.
Your healed future probably self is calling you. Are you going to swipe left and maintain the status quo or swipe right and start moving towards your dream self? Both swipes are painful. The difference is their destinations. “Swipe left” ends in D’s while “swipe right” ends in living up to your full potential; meaningful and purposeful life aka “heaven on earth.”
Do it for yourself. You deserve a fulfilling life. You were born for it. YOU ARE WORTHY!!!✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
With love
From your sister, mother, auntie, daughter, niece.💚💚💚
