Paxlovid has been tested as the most successful Covid-19 pill, reducing hospital costs by at least 80% and is highly effective
Paxlovid consists of nirmatrelvir, which inhibits SARS-CoV-2 proteins to stop the virus from replicating, and ritonavir, which slows down the breakdown of nirmatrelvir, helping it remain in the body at higher concentrations for longer. Paxlovid is taken as three tablets (two nimatravir and one ritonavir) orally together, twice daily for five days, for a total of 30 tablets. Paxlovid is not authorized for continuous use for more than five days.
