What an unforgettable weekend at TEDx ArgyleSt! ✨

I had the immense privilege of sponsoring this event and witnessing the incredible energy and emotion that each speaker brought. From the powerful moments of vulnerability to the raw passion in every talk, this experience truly reminded me of the power of sharing your story. 🙌

As I listened to the speakers, I felt the full range of emotions—joy, inspiration, even some discomfort ( there were alot of tears). And it made me reflect on my own journey and how there are parts of my story that I share easily and others I don’t. I want to get better at being open about all of it, because it’s why I created Voda Retreats. Building a business without burning out is freaking hard, and this weekend gave me the inspiration I needed to keep going and share more of how hard it really is.

A huge congratulations to my client and friend, who reached a huge milestone by sharing her powerful story with the world. And to my naturopathic doctor and guiding light in my wellness journey – I couldn’t be prouder of your achievement. 💚

Thank you to every single speaker who laid themselves bare and gave us a glimpse into their world. Your courage is contagious and made me feel seen and heard, reminding me why sharing our stories is so powerful.

Being a part of TEDxArgyleSt was a life-changing experience, and it has fueled my passion to continue helping others on their wellness journeys, while also embracing the challenge of growing Voda Retreats. 🌟

Not everything needs to be processed, posted, or performed.

One of the most powerful forms of emotional rest I’ve learned?
Saying nothing at all.

Not because I’m hiding.
Not because I don’t feel deeply.
But because choosing not to explain, defend, or respond is sometimes the most loving thing I can do — for me.

There’s a special kind of self-care in that quiet.
In letting the moment pass.
In choosing not to chase being understood.

✨ Emotional rest is about releasing the pressure to manage how others feel.
It’s about not always being the fixer, the strong one, the one who keeps it all together.

Sometimes it sounds like:
🫶 “I don’t have the words right now.”
🤍 “I’m giving myself a minute.”
🤐 Silence — the kind that protects, not punishes.

And here’s what I’ve found:
When I stop performing emotional strength, I start reclaiming my actual strength.

If you’re feeling like even your feelings are too much to carry right now…
You’re not alone.
Give yourself permission to not explain.
To just breathe. Be still. And rest your heart.

Ginger + Breathwork = A Calmer Tummy While Traveling
Ever feel that fluttery, unsettled feeling in your stomach when you travel?
Whether it’s nerves, motion sickness, or just being out of routine — your body feels it.

Here’s a simple, science-backed duo I swear by:
🌿 Ginger + Breathwork

✨ Ginger essential oil has natural properties that soothe nausea and calm digestion.
✨ Breathwork helps settle the nervous system and bring you back into your body.

Put them together and you’ve got a ritual that tells your brain:
“I’m safe. I’ve got this. We’re okay.”

This is why ginger is one of the core oils in our Journey Inhaler — because travel should feel exciting, not overwhelming.

Try it next time you’re on the move:
💛 Inhale gently through your nose
💛 Exhale slowly
💛 Repeat 3–5 times

Add a drop of ginger oil or reach for your inhaler.
Because calm starts in your breath — and your gut will thank you.

Ever feel completely drained after spending time with people — even if you like them?

That’s your cue:
You don’t just need alone time — you need social rest.

✨ Social rest is the space to just be — without performing, people-pleasing, or constantly managing energy.

Sometimes that looks like:
🤍 Saying no to one more invite
🤍 Spending time with people who don’t require explanations
🤍 Letting yourself be alone without guilt
🤍 Stepping away from group chats, plans, or social media

You are allowed to protect your peace — even if nothing is technically “wrong.”
Your nervous system can’t heal when it’s always on.

And here’s the truth:
The right people won’t punish you for needing space.
The right you will thank you for taking it.

We talk a lot about physical rest… but what about your brain?

Because here's the truth:
You can lie down, cancel plans, even sleep 8 hours — and still feel mentally fried.

🧠 Your brain needs rest, too.
And not the kind you get from scrolling in silence or zoning out in front of a screen.
It needs mental rest — space to pause the constant input, decisions, and overthinking.

One of the most impactful ways I’ve found to rest my mind?
Leaving my phone behind and going for a slow, aimless walk.

No music. No messages. No multitasking.
Just me, my thoughts, and the quiet rhythm of movement.

Even 10 minutes helps.
Because sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is nothing on purpose.

Your mind isn’t meant to be “on” all the time.
Let it breathe.

There’s a reason lavender is in so many bedtime products — but the secret isn’t just in the scent. It’s in how you use it.

🌿 Lavender essential oil has been shown to calm the nervous system, lower heart rate, and reduce tension — making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

But here’s the magic:
Pair it with a few minutes of gentle stretching before bed, and you’ve created a powerful ritual that signals to your body: it’s time to rest now.

✨ This is how we blend aromatherapy + science + habit-building at Voda:
🧘‍♀️ The body stretches and releases the day
🌬 The scent of lavender helps your mind slow down
😴 And over time, this ritual becomes your brain’s natural cue for sleep

It’s not about doing more — it’s about doing what works.

Try this tonight:
💜 Inhale lavender
💜 Stretch slowly
💜 Let sleep come to you

Because better sleep isn’t about the perfect routine —
It’s about giving your body permission to relax.

There was a time when I had everything running just right on the outside.
Work. Family. Routines.
I was showing up, checking boxes, keeping it all together.

But inside… I felt hollow.
Like I had lost the thread of who I was.
I was tired — not just physically, but soul-tired.
Like nothing really meant anything anymore.
Like I was moving through life, but not in it.

That’s what no one tells you about burnout.
It’s not always the exhaustion you can nap away.
Sometimes it’s a disconnection from purpose, from meaning, from yourself.
And the only thing that can touch that kind of fatigue is spiritual rest.

Spiritual rest isn’t about religion.
It’s about coming home to yourself.
It’s about remembering you are more than what you do.
It’s that moment when you feel safe to let go,
to stop fixing, managing, proving, and just be.

For me, spiritual rest looks like:
🕯️ Lighting a candle in the quiet morning and simply breathing
🌊 Letting nature hold me when I feel untethered
💬 Sitting with someone who sees me and listening deeply
💃 Dancing in my car to music that moves something inside me
📖 Writing what’s real, without needing it to be pretty
🤍 Just sitting still — no agenda, no pressure — and letting that be enough

Connecting with my people.
Listening to music that reminds me I’m human.
Being still. Being real.
That’s what fills my bucket.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need one moment to stop pretending you do.

That’s where the healing starts.
That’s what spiritual rest gives us.

3 Unexpected Ways to Rest Your Body This Summer

Feeling heavy, stiff, or just off in your body lately?

Physical rest isn’t always about sleep — especially in the summer.

Here are 3 simple (and kind of dreamy) ways to rest your body without a nap:

The Grounding Lounge
Lay flat on your back in the grass, on the beach, or your deck. Let your spine melt into the earth. Just breathe. ☀️

The Floating Pause
Float in a pool, lake, or ocean and let the water hold you. Even 3 minutes of this can reset your entire nervous system. 🛟

The Wander with No Agenda
Take a slow, aimless walk — no phone, no playlist, no step count. Let your body move without pressure. 🌿

✨ These moments are rest. Your body remembers them.

Pair them with a Voda inhaler for a multi-sensory reset that sticks.

There’s something about the scent of oranges that instantly lifts your mood — and it’s not just in your head.

🍊 The fresh, bright aroma of orange essential oil has been shown to reduce anxiety, increase alertness, and spark a sense of joy and motivation. That’s why it’s one of the core oils in our Confidence Inhaler.

Now here’s where it gets powerful:
Pair it with a power pose — standing tall, feet grounded, chest open — and you’ve created a simple, science-backed ritual that tells your body: I am strong. I am steady. I’ve got this.

✨ This is how we combine aromatherapy + science + habit-building:
🧠 Your body feels confident in the pose.
👃 Your brain links that feeling to the scent.
🔁 And over time, that connection becomes automatic — a go-to habit you can access any time you need it.

It’s not just a moment of confidence — it becomes a pattern your nervous system remembers.

Try it:
🧡 Inhale
🧡 Stand tall
🧡 Repeat when you need a boost

Because confidence isn’t something you’re born with —
it’s something you build.

Not all rest = sleep.

I used to get the recommended hours of sleep each night…
but still wake up feeling exhausted.
I’d start avoiding activities, events, and even social outings — anything that required moving my body.
And honestly? I felt like crap.

As someone who used to be active and always on the go, this was hard to admit. But I had to go back to basics and relearn how to feel better in my body.

That meant exploring physical rest — not just sleep, but recovery.
True physical rest is about letting your body reset, whether through stillness or gentle, intentional movement.

Some of the most restorative moments I’ve had came in the middle of the day, when I:
💤 laid on the floor or sat on my deck for 5 quiet minutes and just breathed
🧘‍♀️ practiced gentle stretching between tasks
🚶‍♀️ took a slow, no-pressure walk — no destination, no music, just nature
🛁 added aromatherapy to my shower to turn it into a full-body reset

Sleep is incredible — but it’s not always available in a busy season.
That’s why I love helping people discover simple ways to rest without needing to disappear for hours.

✨ Your body doesn’t need perfection.
It just needs permission to pause.

10/07/2025

Exhausted, but still can’t seem to rest?
You’re not lazy. You’re likely just missing the right kind of rest.

Let’s break it down 👇
Here are 7 types of rest you actually need — and simple ways to get each one:

Physical Rest: Lay in the grass. Stretch before bed. Slow down.

Mental Rest: Put your phone down. Stare at the sky. Let your thoughts drift.

Emotional Rest: Say what you feel. Cry. Journal without fixing it.

Social Rest: Spend time alone (yes, that counts). Be with people who feel safe.

Sensory Rest: Dim the lights. Turn off the music. Soak in silence.

Creative Rest: Watch the waves. Visit a garden. Do something with no outcome.

Spiritual Rest: Light a candle. Meditate. Remind yourself of your why.

Balance isn’t about doing more.
It starts with restoring what you’ve been missing. 🌿

What kind of rest does your body actually need today?
