I haven’t posted in a bit-because I have been celebrating,healing and living! 💚🩵😀

*Celebrating all these wonderful graduates in my local community
*celebrating birthdays
*baby showers
*reunions with family
*building my stamina to do all my daily things!
*growing hair( ya’all know that’s a big one!)
*walking without a cane 75% of the time
*good labs and no rejection for my new liver
*gaining my independence more and more everyday!

I am feeling good, I do have my tired days, but I rest and feel rejuvenated! The doctors are very pleased with my progress🙂

I could not be here without my husband, family, friends and this amazing community! You all have surrounded me with so much love and support you make a girl feel special! Thank you!

Cathie is recovering well from surgery with her new liver. She is taking it slow and doing her best to listen to the doctors. We just want to make sure she doesnt over do it! One meal a week will help ease her back into the routine of meal cooking. Please help if you can!

At CC for a test with Cheryl and Jason was there too-actually working! 💪🏻💚🩵We are both just 3 weeks and 3 days out of surgery!! We are both healing quickly! The Gee’s don’t mess around-we got stuff to do! I am walking well with and without a cane and have more stamina than I did last week😊

CC continues to be on top of things in managing my labs and care and is monitoring me for signs of rejection. My anti rejection meds help my body not “see” my transplanted liver. Those meds can fluctuate over the next year as my body gets used to my new liver. They have also been increased 2x since surgery and is all part of this post transplant process. No worries! They see everything in my labs I do 2 x weekly!

Thank you to the folks who have prepared meals for my family. You all are great cooks and we appreciate you!

Love to all!
Cathie

Heading home from CC for my first follow up with my Transplant Team. Everything is looking good. We only had to adjust my anti rejection meds once since being home, which is great! I also got my 60 staples out! 😳 I am definitely more comfortable I am feeling good, I just get out of breath easily. 😊

A big shoutout to this outstanding woman I get to call mom! She has been my constant sidekick for my healing process. She is with me almost daily. We have talked, laughed and cried the last few weeks. She has picked up after me and let me tell her what to do with no compliant!😬 As you all know that is a feat in and of its self!!! I can kinda be alot when I am not independent. 😂 Thanks mom! I love you!

Mom and I were able to come out a day early and visit Jason and Kerrie It was so nice to see them and Jack. Willow stayed away since she was getting over a sickness. We ate dinner, told stories and laughed! It was medicine for me for sure! Not to mention an Aunt Jane apple pie we shared!🥧Thank you Aunt Jane! It was out of this world!

To my prayer warriors-Thank you again for the prayers of continuous healing. We still need prayers that my body continues to allow and accept Jasons gift and my family continues to gain strength while I heal. You all are fierce with this and I am eternally grateful for you!🙏🏻

Love to all!

I just changed the profile picture of this page- it is of my brother and I as kids, it has always been one of my favorite photos of us-we kicked It bro! Cancer Free!💪🏻

First few days home have been good. There have been so many emotions I am running on. Hearing my family and friends stories about their experience with my miracle, them sharing their own miracles and the overwhelming knowledge the hand of God was with us and is still with us as Jason and I continue to heal.

There are so many of you texting me, quietly praying, loving and supporting my family-thank you!

Love you all,
Cathie

Cathie is at home celebrating and healing with her NEW LIVER!!! I thought it would be helpful if we could bring the family dinner a few times during the week. I am asking her tribe to sign up if you are able! She has no diet restrictions. She is trying to eat high protein during the day. Mondays and...

Guess what! I am outta here!!!! The last 2 days prepared me to leave CC. Lisa came out yesterday and we walked the halls, laughed and she helped me remember I still got this💪🏻

Wayne and the kids were back in the work and school routine which makes mama happy! 🥰

Chicky came out to get me tonight and I have the sun setting on my face in the car and heading home to my tribe of prayer and support warriors! A community of people who love better than anybody in the world!

There will be a lot to manage the coming weeks and my recovery will be 3 months. It will take a year for my liver to settle in, but today I get to go home to my family watching a beautiful sunset with one of my besties!

God is so good.

I can’t believe it has been one week since I packed my bags and came to Cleveland Clinic to get prepared for surgery for a new cancer free liver gifted to me by my hero-my brother!

We are both doing well. Jason is home and recovering. He reports only progress for him. He is reportingng walking the cul de sac and glad to be home.

My labs and ultrasounds( they look at blood flow to the liver from all the arteries ect) are going well everyday. Doctors are super happy with how I am doing. They keep taking tubes and needles out of me so that is excellent progress!

Keep praying it is working!

Love you all!

Wow what a few days! I over did it a bit Wednesday and Thursday, but got a great nights sleep last night and got up an at’m this morning. What a beautiful feeling to rest and actually be refreshed with more energy! What a gift!

Got cleaned up and have my own gown on. Gosh I hate those hospital gowns. lol. I will be walking the halls today with my occupational therapist and getting stronger. 💪🏻

Jason is doing great too. He is recovering and we get to see each other daily. I love our visits. Jake was with him yesterday and they went to the rooftop to hang out.

I didn’t think I could be any closer to Jason, but he has shown so much love and sacrifice for me. I am in awe of his courage and mental strength. He inspires me✝️💚🩵

Kerrie and Wayne are force of love and strengh and I am also in awe of how they have handled watching their spouses go through what we have so far. I love them more than they will ever know.

I see all of your comments online and the prayer warriors that have seen us through this so far. We aren’t out of the woods yet. There will be ups and downs, but with the family, our community and Gods will, I know we will be ok and make many new memories together!

Love you all,
Cathie

I woke up yesterday cancer free! Because of my brother willing to do the unthinkable and alter his body and life for mine. They took 68% of his liver! It will regenerate for both of us to 95% over the next year! This is an amazing organ.

Please pray for Jason to recover from this surgery. Gods hands has been with us this whole time. This is our first meeting after our surgery. I felt the weight of what I have been carrying for the last 2 years lifted from me. Thank you all for that gift being lifted by your prayers, but mostly God, Jason and our doctors They all came together to make His will be done. Thank you for your courage brother! I can only repay you by living a full life and that is what I plan to do! Love you… no more running and trying to escape, you came! This is our theme song Stick Figure-Once in a Lifetime🎶💚🩵

Cancer has a way of tricking you. Tricking you in believing things that are not true and serve no purpose, but to strip you of hope. It is a relentless, sneaky and an exhausting disease.

But, God. ✝️ God sends you reminders that he promises good things for you. Reminds you to seek his words for comfort AND when you are as stubborn as I am, he will show you straight to your face what he wants for you.

It came in the form of my bestie! While all my family, friends and community have cominuously prayed and rallied behind me, my one on one time with Cheryl seemed to harness all of your thoughts and prayers for me.

My time with Cheryl, while being preppared to be my donor, reminded me I was living without belief that I am promised a future. Her positivity, belief and inability to accept anything but good things for me hit me hard and straight in my face! I couldn’t escape it, we we stuck together at Cleveland Clinic and I finally got it!

I needed that more than she will ever know and am so lucky to witness her love and feirceness for me. Thank you Chicky! I know you climb mountains 🗻and follow Silver Back gorillas 🦍 around the rain forest, but getting me to realize something you had no idea I was stuggling with was one tough feat!

I needed to be reminded of Gods promise to all of us.

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

While Cheryl is a match, the doctors have decided our body anatomy is not the best fit for her to be my donor.

I am grateful that my brother Jason has agreed to be next in line for testing, which will happen this month.

In the mean time, the medical staff has decided it would be best if I will do a couple rounds of heavy chemo this month to keep the cancer, left in my liver, at bay and stable. This will allow us to look at a possible transplant early this spring and keep me on the path of the complete removal of the cancer left in my body. Truly a miracle in the making.

I believe His next lesson I need to learn is about His timing! Another tough one😂

Love to all,
Cathie
