Sheena Gregg Nutrition Eating disorders are complex illnesses. Helping my clients find both joy and healing in food is an honor that fuels my work as a dietitian.

As the dietitian on your treatment team, my goals are to get the best understanding of what your recovery journey has been, meet you where you are, and help you make recovery a priority while living a full life. As an individual with my own history of eating disorder recovery, I come from a place of compassion while using evidence-based principles to treat my clients. Part of my work with patients also involves including your therapist, physician, and anyone else that is part of your treatment team as part of the conversation. I am here to translate the science of nutrition into practical, real life understanding. I believe recovery centers on regaining the ability to trust food and restore your body's internal cues that get disrupted from disordered eating behaviors. I use a weight-inclusive approach with all of my clients.

Hi all, in honor of National Nutrition Month, I am providing a 1 hour Zoom session next Friday March 11th on Intuitive Eating. I feel like has created some misconceptions regarding IE and I'd love for this session to be an opportunity for participants to have a better understanding of the benefits of intuitive eating and also learn more about their current eating style. Please use the link below to register so that the Zoom information can be emailed to you :)

✅Maybe this is the year that you change the narrative about that has painted for you and allow yourself to eat carbohydrates with no remorse or self-deprecating joke after enjoying them

✅Maybe this is the year you decide what you want to add more of to your diet instead of making a list of everything you’re going to deprive yourself of

✅Maybe this is the year that you allow yourself to eat when you’re hungry instead of ignoring your body’s hunger signals

✅Maybe this is the year that you stop using phrases like “cheat day, cheat meal, guilty pleasure” or any other term that indicates a food as good or bad

✅Maybe this is the year you allow yourself to eat to the point of comfortable fullness instead of stopping just short of being satisfied because you’re scared of what it means to feel full

✅Maybe this is the year that you throw away your bathroom scale

✅Maybe this is the year that you stop counting macros and calories

✅Maybe this is the year you accept that it’s okay to eat something for a reason other than nutritional value

✅Maybe this is the year that you realize it is possible to have a healthy relationship with food and it’s possible to eat for your overall health and wellbeing without using weight loss as a parameter of progress

✅Maybe this is the year you choose to seek help for recovery from your eating disorder

Seriously, think about it… anyone else remember the phrase “an apple a day keeps the doctor away?” What about learning in health classes about all of the amazing vitamins and minerals that fruits have when learning about the different food groups? Or finding out that your favorite athlete loves having bananas as a quick snack to fuel their workouts?

Now it’s
“Oh no, I don’t eat grapes anymore, they have too much sugar and I’ve been reading about the dangers of too much sugar in the diet”

“My doctor told me not to eat any white carbs if I wanted to lose weight so I stopped eating bananas”

“I love fruit but I’m doing keto so I mostly just eat meat and cheese now.”

WHAT HAPPENED?!
happened and it sucks.

Can we PLEASE stop demonizing the word cravings? I recently read an article talking about how cravings are an intense desire for a specific food. The article then goes on to say that food cravings can lead a person to eat foods that have adverse health effects 🤯🤯🤯🤬🤬

Guess what? Can actually be a way for your body to communicate its need for certain nutrients or change in flavor profile from what you have been eating. CRAVINGS ARE NOT BAD and can be a wonderful tool for intuitive eating.
