For this very reason I choose the ED for my preceptorship and my Nurse Residency post graduation.
During my clinical rotations the ED just fit for me. For one… you encounter many different individuals seeking help for many different problems. Many of them are admitted and sent upstairs for further treatment… but more often they go home feeling better and thankful to the healthcare workers who cared for them. They never forget how you helped them to feel better.
Secondly… the ED provides a wealth of knowledge! You learn about so many different illnesses, medications and nursing interventions. With that knowledge you can excel in many other specialties in the nursing field.

1. Fun fact: I am obsessed with the color pink… prepare to be sick of me!

2. FYI: I never went to school to be a bedside nurse. I only wanted to do Botox and Fillers to tie the knot with my Esthetics license but somehow… I fell in complete love with patient care!

3. Thank you for tuning in and following me on this journey. I kept everything quiet and didn’t let anyone know that I was even in Nursing School. Why? I just felt as if some people will hate on your plans and put negative wishes into the universe. I waited to the end of nursing school to even come out with Nursing School.
This has been a journeyyyyy.
Some classes I felt like giving up. Some instructors made me feel like I was back in Brooklyn and ready to fight. My relationship did not survive. Financially I was drowning. It’s hard to work in nursing school due to assignments, schedule workload and exams. My program was an accelerated one so we had exams every single week of five week terms. It was intense. Imagine doing Pharmacology in 5 weeks. Every medication, side effects, indications, contraindications and patient teaching.
Anywayyyyy…. Because I can go on and on. I’m here at the end of the Nursing School journey and on the highway to NCLEX!
