Dear Gamma Pi at-Large Chapter Members:
In the light of this previous weekend’s storms, I wanted to take a moment to tell you how proud I am of our Sigma nurses.
Nurses have historically been a source of comfort, caring, and advocacy. The efforts from our chapter’s nurses convince me that we are dedicated to Sigma’s mission: advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.
I know that many of you were called upon for Mass Casualty alerts and responded at a moment’s notice. I also know that many of you volunteered time, money, and skills to our neighbors and community members who needed it. I have no doubt that you will continue to support our community as the recovery and healing process continues.
I do not know all of the services you all have provided and continue to provide to our community, but whether it was nursing triage, clean-up, tetanus boosters, ensuring volunteers remain safe, supporting our first responders, or any of the other thousands of tasks you perform, I want you to know how humbled I am of you, your efforts, your commitment, and your selflessness in service to each other and to our neighbors.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to demonstrate excellence in nursing.
