What is Hepatitis B? Hepatitis (plural hepatitides) is a medical condition defined by the inflammation of the liver and characterized by the presence of inflammatory cells in the tissue of the organ. Nearly more than 300 million people around the world are suffering from it. The disease progression is very devastating as it leads to liver cancer, infection and cirrhosis. Patients suffering from Hepatitis B often take doses of Hepitits B drugs. There are currently several drugs. These include antiviral drugs lamivudine (Epivir), adefovir (Hepsera), tenofovir (Viread), telbivudine (Tyzeka) and entecavir (Baraclude) and the two immune system modulators interferon alpha-2a and PEGylated interferon alpha-2a (Pegasys). There is no cure for Hepatits B and sad part of this disease is that people in 50s are likely to suffer from this disease. People from Asia/Africa are most prevalent with Hepatitis B and suffer from this disease
