I've made the decision to become more involved (virtually) with Grateful Living - an organisation I've been following for some time. They have an online forum where the community can join to appreciate and show gratefulness for many aspects of life and I want to embed my practice further.
One of the short films I spotted is this one, which I thought I'd share.

THERE IS MORE FOR YOU

There is more for you
than what never showed up.
More than what never came to be.
More than what couldn’t transpire
or find a way to work out,
and it looks like healing
and shaped like possibility.
Let down by family or parents,
past dreams and expectations.
Put off by relationships,
romances, careers and ideations.
There’s another path to explore
and alternate routes to travel.
There’s a tribe meant to welcome,
with encouragements to fuel you.
There are hearts that want to hold you,
and kindnesses that long to see you through.
There are other ways to meet with love,
as kinships waiting in the wings.
There are fresh fields to run in
and warm pools to swim.
Hold on bright child,
there is more than
what never appeared...

I watched this last evening and highly recommend it - it's just 27 minutes long. Thich Nhat Hanh was one of the most remarkable people, certainly the most influencial emissary for peace in the last 100 years, and the person who brought mindfulness into the public arena. It's also a poignant film, because, although Thay's work arose in response to war in his homeland Vietnam, the relentless urge for war is still the reality for many countries today. You will be moved and inspired.💜

Remember that bringing yourself fully into the present moment, either by following the breath, or engaging yourself in a task, or a creative project, you are developing an inner resilience. Look for activities which will rejuvenate you, inspire you, motivate you, soothe you. Simply worrying won't change the situation which is causing anxiety, but you can change your mindset for a while 💛

Thich Nhat Hanh has been a source of wisdom and insight for me for over 25 years. I learned so much about mindfulness and living mindfully from him. He passed away peacefully last night in Vietnam, aged 95. I feel so blessed at how he has touched my life. Sounds True are commemorating Thay’s life by offering a free download of some of his teachings to everyone 💜🌸💜

Beloved teacher and author Thich Nhat Hanh passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022, at the age of 95. 💙 Thay, as he was known to his students, launched so many of us at Sounds True on our journeys into the miracle of deep presence.

If Thay touched your life in some way, we hope you’ll take a moment to breathe, and then to appreciate and remember him with us.

Are you able to start each day afresh, or are you dragging the energy from all the days before it into your new one? At the start of a new year, why not begin a gratitude diary to record all the positive things that happen? By the end of the year, it will be a marvellous thing to read, and noticing what's good about your life will have become a habit 🧡💜

I've started a new dietary regime to improve my gut health, which I'm keen to do, both to set me up well for the year to come and to redress some of the damage that has been caused over my lifetime. I find at this time of the year, as we are being encouraged to feast, to dine out, and to eat in excess, that these Five Contemplations are so helpful, encouraging us to eat mindfully and with respect 🍂🧡🍂

"When we eat a meal, there are two objects of our mindfulness: the food and the people who are there with us during the meal. Practicing in this way we are sure to find better ways of consuming food without exploiting our Earth and other living beings. Before eating a meal you can read, either aloud or to yourself, the Five Contemplations. Of course we don’t just read the Contemplations but we meditate on the words throughout the meal."
