Quad-County Community Partnerships for Protecting Children - CPPC A Comprehensive, Community-based Approach to Protecting Children in Des Moines, Henry, Lee & Louisa C

Community Partnerships for Protecting Children (CPPC) is a community-based approach to child protection. Partnerships work to prevent child abuse, neglect, re-abuse, safely decrease the number of out-of-home placements, and promote timely reunification when children are placed in foster care. The long term focus of the Community Partnerships is to protect children by changing the culture to improve child welfare processes, practices, and policies. We believe:
•Children should be with their own families, whenever possible.
•Families are stronger when all members, including caregivers, are safe from abuse.
•There is no substitute for strong families to ensure that children and youth grow up to be capable adults.
•Families need supportive communities to help them be strong and offer a sense of belonging.
•Children can best be kept safe when families, friends, residents, and organizations work together as partners.
•Services and supports need to be closely linked to communities in which families live.
•Government alone, through the Department of Human Services (DHS) agency, cannot keep children safe from abuse and neglect.
•Efforts to reduce abuse and neglect must be closely linked to broader community initiatives and priorities.

🌟 Requesting a Special Education Evaluation: What Families Should Know 🌟

If parents suspect that a disability may be contributing to their child's challenges in school, there are clear steps they can take to request a Special Education evaluation.

💬 Parents and guardians can make this request at any time—you don’t have to wait for a school to bring it up.

It’s also important to remember that many children benefit from interventions in the general education setting, and in some cases, additional special education support may not be needed.

Empowered families help create the best paths for learners. 💛

Doing what’s right starts at home. It’s in the conversations we choose to have, the examples we set, and the values we live out in front of our kids. Every day gives us another chance to guide them with integrity, compassion, and courage.

There are so many opportunities to step up to protect children wherever you are!
*Compassionately helping local families reduce stress reduces risk for kids - especially in situations involving mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence and for those living in poverty.
*Volunteer with or join your county Child Abuse Prevention Council to learn what really prevents child abuse, to help spread the word that child abuse prevention is possible, to donate your skills, time or resources to assist in child protection efforts, and to learn how/where to advocate for change at all levels that will protect children and make families stronger!!!
