The Ultimate Time Machine Isn't a Machine at All
Have you ever been stopped in your tracks by a song? I’m not just talking about tapping your foot to a good beat. I mean that sudden, heart-lurching moment when the first few notes of a forgotten tune play over the speakers at a coffee shop, and you’re instantly transported somewhere else entirely.

For me, it happened just last week. I was wrestling with a stubborn jar of pickles in the grocery store when a fuzzy, guitar-heavy intro came on. Suddenly, I wasn't in aisle six anymore. I was 16, sitting in my best friend’s beat-up sedan with the windows down, driving nowhere in particular on a warm summer night. We were screaming the lyrics at the top of our lungs, feeling invincible, like the whole world was laid out just for us. The feeling was so vivid, so real, that I almost dropped the pickles.

That’s the thing about music, isn’t it? It’s not just background noise. It’s a time machine.

My life is cataloged in playlists, not photo albums.
