The more I research my family lines of the folk that lived in Carmarthen, it seems that St Peters Church was an important part of many families lives… Many lived in the streets near the church and the quay was home and work to many. I wonder if the unlinked families knew each other? Oh to know more of the details of their lives!

Looking at some old celluloid photos. My maternal grandmother (my dear nanny) is the young woman on the right hand side of the photo. I’m not 100% certain who the other people are… Guess I need to confirm the best way to store these old photos…

Another unnamed photo!! I had a thought who he might be but yet to confirm anything with my cousins... I have now set up Facebook family group pages for my grandparents families and invited all the cousins/family I can find on Facebook to join so we can easily share information and photos. Do you have family group pages?

This is Baronsdown House, Brompton Regis, Somerset where my 3rd cousin 2x removed Elizabeth Ann Fry worked as a kitchen maid according to the 1881 census! Baronsdown House was built by the Joyce family in about 1656 but the family lost most of their wealth after the formation of, and monopolisation of trade by, the East India Trading Company. Sadly the house was sold and demolished in about 1967! #1881

A break through with my research has me delving further into the past with my Carmarthenshire family. David Richards my 4th great grandfather was a “tin man” by trade as stated in his marriage records in
1788. This is Priory Street, Carmarthen where he died in 1835.
Unfortunately I don’t know how old he was as I’ve yet to find a baptism for him...

I’m so proud of my 2nd great grandfather William Stuart Major. He joined the army at the age of 15 in 1850. Serving from the beginning to the end of his military career in the Duke of Wellington’s regiment. Accounts say he had a “most distinguished military record, attested by the possession of five war medals”! Do you have any military ancestors?

This building is 97/99 Wardour Street, London. It was the Intrepid Fox pub established in 1784 by the publican Samuel House. In 1845 my 3rd great uncle John William Johnson stated on his marriage certificate that he resided at 97 Wardour Street. The 1851 census shows him, his wife and family also lived there. They were one of seven families living at no 97!!
