Both Easter Monday and the beginning of stress awareness month 🌼

Stress is one of the most common reasons that people give for overeating. It’s as if the stress itself is shoving food in our mouth. Of course, it’s not the stress but our reaction to it that’s the issue here. Using food to do a job it can never do – leastways not for very long.

Some tools for managing stress include getting enough rest, ensuring life has a good dollop of fun and joy, asking for help when it’s needed, and exercise are all good stress management tools –

Happy Easter Sunday 🐥🌸

I’m mindful that today can be tough for chocolate lovers – but stay strong because it’s also ‘World backup day’.

World backup day reminds us that backups of our computing is the equivalent to dental flossing for cybersecurity. Everyone knows that they should do it and intends to do it but somehow never gets round to it. (or maybe that’s just me – with the dental flossing I mean)

Perhaps channelling the essence of ‘World backup day’ is useful today. Three steps are suggested.

Make backups – go back and remind yourself why you started and indeed how far you have come. Capture the wins – no matter how small they may seem.

Make them automatic – can you get 5 mins in at the end of each day to write down your achievements. Use pictures and affirmations in places where they remind you of just how brilliant you are.

Make sure they work – move your reminders around, after a while they may become so familiar that you forget that they are there. Revisit your goals – have they changed? Do you need to set some different onward intentions?

Nutrition and hydration week 11th-17th March

A week of activities highlighting the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing. This chimes with me because the Lighterlife foodpacks offer 100% nutrition and ensuring good hydration is an essential part of our weight loss programme.

Mr. Spock from Star Trek wasn’t kidding when he said that humans were mainly large bags of water, Water makes up 95% of our brain, 90% of our lungs, 83% of blood and muscles and bones are 76% and 22% respectively.

Dehydration can cause a variety of symptoms including headaches, fatigue, lack of focus, dizziness and constipation. Treat your body like a water wheel and keep it gently moving all day by sipping water regularly. You’ll see good hydration reflected in your hair and skin and you’ll also feel good too!

It’s National Napping day in the US today.

This was first established in 1999 by Professor William Anthony (University of Boston) and his wife Camille, to promote awareness of the health benefits of napping and the importance of sleep.

This day follows the clocks going forward, even though our clocks don’t change until the end of March - I’m totally here for the power of rest at any time!

Ask yourself what the difference between a day you find it easy to manage your weight and a day you don’t and I’m betting that not having enough rest and being tired is right up there in the list of reasons why.

One of the side effects of ketosis commonly reported by clients is an improvement in the quality of their sleep including for some a liberation from sleep apnoea.

If your weight is interrupting your rest then let’s have a chat.

Happy International Woman’s Day
I am celebrating all women today – those who inspire, are courageous, radiant and tenacious. Women who care for others and take on other’s burdens. Young women growing into our hope for the future and elderly women with histories to learn from.
International Women’s day is about celebrating the achievements of women and raising awareness of the barriers and discrimination women still face around the world.
Weight stigma and discrimination is felt by men and women, however, there is evidence that women experience higher levels of weight stigmatisation and discrimination than men and at lower levels of excess weight.
Research also shows that such experiences are likely to make it harder to do anything about letting weight go because people feel shameful.
Today I celebrate women of all shapes and sizes. I’d really like you to know that there is no shame at LighterLife. You will never be judged, you will always be welcome.
