Dear friends,
Yesterday’s clinics may seem like a remote dream: busy, productive, safe, and fulfilling.
A DREAM!
Today’s ophthalmology practice is uncertain: Is the risk of deterioration of the average patient short of routine follow up outweighs the risk of infection with a potentially deadly virus? This time the risk is both for the physician and the patient; Either meeting participants at each side of the slit lamp may bare the enemy. Is the proximity of faces during the ophthalmic examination a calculated risk?
We have adapted our clinic, our interview, and practice to reduce the risk, learning on the go while combating this unknown risk. As time goes by it becomes apparent that this virus is here to stay, and more questions emerge every day.
Encouraging somewhat is the fact that information of specific infection through the eye and the manifestation of the COVID 19 in the eye is still limited. Future studies may shed more light on the subject.
It is inspiring to see how humanity is united to combat the destructive virus by sharing clinical experience, medical supply, and race to come out with treatment or immunization while practicing immediate social distancing.
Our communication is also reshaping these days. We would like to share your thoughts and experiences via ISOPT Clinical international platform using the ISOPT Clinical Telegram account till we meet again… face to face.
We hope we can go back soon to our dreamy regular past life.
Meanwhile, Stay Safe!
