Wrapping up our 2025 TDHA Annual Conference! This has been an incredible weekend full of fun, friendship, networking, and WORKING for our profession! While the conference has been great, my heart does hurt that North TX does not have its proper representation due to the lack of volunteerism.

Our profession is at risk y’all. ADA has some pretty terrifying changes in the works. ALL of our members need to STEP UP and STEP IN here.

𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝘀 𝗛𝘆𝗴𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲

A new rule establishing certification procedures and standards for dental hygienists to administer local infiltration anesthetic was adopted at today’s TSBDE meeting.

Although the new rule has been adopted, there will be a delay as the TSBDE implements a process for issuing the required certificate to eligible dental hygienists. (Even though you may have a certificate from out of state you will still need to be approved by TSBDE before you are able to administer in Texas)

Remember, once certified dental hygienist are limited to:
- limited to infiltration only;
- for non-sedated patients or those sedated solely with nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation; and
- only while the hygienist is providing hygiene services within the dental hygiene scope of practice

Hello North TX friends! After our recent TDHA AC I had 2 beautiful souls step up to volunteer and try to keep our little component together. We still need more volunteers. Please come join us!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Unfortunately, our local component will most likely be dissolved in the next couple of months due to lack of volunteers 😢. It breaks my heart to see this happen, but I can’t keep it going by myself. If this does come to pass, you’ll have the option to change your local membership to any local component that fits best for you. The closest to North Texas are either Great Collin, Dallas, or Greater Fort Worth.

The best spot to keep up-to-date on the exciting happenings (like local courses) will be the TDHA page.
