I used to think I had to earn my wings.
Now I know… I just need to remember to use them.

This photo is a reminder that we don’t become the best version of ourselves all at once. It’s a journey — through seasons, through endless learning, through many pivots, through letting go, and most importantly, through choosing presence over perfection.

This 4th of July, I’m reflecting on a different kind of freedom:
The quiet courage to return to myself.
The grace to grow at my own pace.
To choose every single day — to show up fully in my body, my health, and my life. And, to use my dedicated passion to fuel HealthStyle’s mission— to empower women to engage with and better care for their whole health optimally, differently, in ways that leads to vitality.

Joy is a biohack. And this glow? It’s not from a filter—it’s from purpose.

I finished a full day with clients who are completely transforming their health optimally.

These women are powerhouses in their work—the pressures they are under are REAL, the stress is beyond impactful, and they are ALL sleeping better, thinking sharper, shedding unwanted pounds, and radiating vitality.

As we return from a holiday weekend, did you have a moment to check in with yourself? Did your holiday pause bring attention to any internal hazard lights flashing in your body, such as bloating, general “gut yuck”, skin flares, fatigue, fogginess, anxiety, moodiness, or forgetfulness? Did you take advantage of the downtime and maximize it to your advantage, feel rested, or did you work while others played?

Me? Well, I’m typing these words from an airport lounge, asking myself these same questions.

I’m a little worn, but despite my road warrior wear, I feel well, and my heart is filled with gratitude for being able to come to NYC to help my daughter. That brilliant beauty just completed her first year of law school and asked for help to wrap things up before she heads off to her summer internship.

Why I share this is that it’s one thing to do hard things yourself, but when you see your kid accomplish, survive, and then thrive in a crushing experience themselves, it takes your breath away. And hey, she asked for help, which was a power move that so many of us powerhouses forget to do.

Witnessing her slay year one of law school, much like a grit-filled gladiator would, challenged my approach to crushing goals in a completely different way. Helping her navigate brought to light ways we should all approach crushing our “it” while preserving ourselves and our health during the process. Want the secret? Follow this list:

1. Crushing big stuff requires you to stay in the moment. Mindfulness matters.
2. What you consume (food, supplements, news, social media, etc.) becomes your chemistry.
3. Get ridiculously comfortable with being uncomfortable.
4. When your world is unstable, your glucose doesn’t have to be (this is something in your control).
5. Unprocessed emotions become inflammation.
6. Boundaries are healthy protection, not selfishness.
7. Don’t let your phone, fear, or obligations be your first input of the day.
8. Move, slowly but often.
9. Have your “go-to” person to be real with.
10. Set powerful affirmations that remind you of your capabilities. Thoughts are things!

I am a huge fan of taking a pause.

Not the kind of pause where you’re still spinning in your head while your body sits still—but a true pause. This is when you are able to slow everything down to the point where your nervous system exhales.
Where your hormones recalibrate. Where your body begins to feel safe enough to restore and recallibrate.

It took me decades to slow my high achieving self down and to recognize that pausing was a very good thing. It didn't mean I was slow or weak; It actually helped me go faster and become stronger.

Did you know that research shows that even 10 minutes of daily stillness lowers cortisol, improves heart rate variability, and boosts insulin sensitivity—key markers of health and longevity.

So this week, let this be your invitation:

Not to do more for your health… but to feel more.
To soften.
To listen.
To reconnect with the version of you that isn’t rushing.

You don’t need to earn your health through effort alone.

Sometimes, restoration is the most radical act of wellness.

It’s your size. Your style. But somehow, it just doesn’t feel right.

This may be the exact thing that’s happening with your health. If you feel like you’re doing everything or trued everything from eating clean, working out, to taking supplements… and have been checking all the boxes, because that’s the kind of person you are.

And yet—you still feel off. Perhaps exhausted, bloated, anxious, inflamed, having difficulty focusing, etc. and not your best—definitely far from feeling optimal.

Here’s the thing: health isn’t one-size-fits-all. If what you’re doing isn’t working, it’s not because you need to try harder. It’s because it’s not the right fit for your body, your hormones, and YOUR life.
