Let us help you on your journey to a slimmer you. Downingtown Nutrition will work with you on finding the right way to live a healthy life and achieve your health goals. We work on where you are and help you create small sustainable changes that last! Convenient locations based in Kennett Square and Downingtown from Chadds Ford, Glen Mills, Delaware, southern Chester County, West Chester, Exton, Malvern and mainline area. What We Do
Our practice provides one-to-one nutrition counseling, weight management programs, sports nutrition, counseling for disordered and emotional eating including a school-based Intensive outpatient eating disorder program, sports nutrition, thyroid health, GI gut health support, cardiovascular disease, and consultant services for employer based weight management and wellness programs, and family-based nutrition services. Most insurances accepted. Keystone and Personal Choice holders have no co-pay and six free visits a year. Medicare, United, Cigna, Highmark, Independence Administrators, Anthem and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Sliding scale fees available based on eligibility. Non-profit packages available for employer based and community outreach programs. We believe health is right and health services should be affordable!

Fueling 🍓🫐🍌 and athletes for success on and off the ice/field is a game-changer! 🏆 Our sports dietitians, Matt Jones and Jen Barr, had an amazing time at PHA teaching athletes about the Power of Breakfast.
The athletes loved building their own smoothie bowls, packed with carbs from fruits, granola, and a drizzle of honey 🍯 for sustained energy. But the real ⭐️ of the show? Jen’s protein banana bread! A fan favorite, this breakfast can be made ahead of time and frozen, making it a perfect grab-and-go option for busy mornings.

Huge thanks to for hosting Downingtown Nutrition for a fantastic “Meal Planning 101” employee wellness event! We had a blast helping their team tackle those common “roadblocks” to healthy eating.
Attendees sampled delicious, freezer-friendly foods like high-protein minestrone soup, apple pie overnight oats, and protein bites. Some even got to take extras home! Everyone also left with our exclusive Prep Ahead Guide.

❓Parents and Coaches: Are you looking for a way to help your young athletes perform at their best? Proper nutrition on game day is one of the most important factors. It’s not just about what they eat, but when they eat it.

Here is a guide to help you plan for a typical school day with an afternoon game, as well as tips for away games, using the attached visual.

Gameday Nutrition on a School Day:

🥯🥯 Breakfast is Critical: Encourage your athlete to eat a balanced breakfast before school. A meal with complex carbohydrates like oatmeal or a bagel will provide sustained energy for the day and set them up for a strong performance later.

🥨 Lunch is Their Mid-Day Fuel: Remind them to eat a substantial lunch at school. A packed lunch with a sandwich, fruit, and some easy-to-digest snacks is ideal. This is a crucial meal to prevent a mid-afternoon energy crash.

The Pre-Game Snack: The 45-60 minute window before a game is for a small, easily digestible snack. This "fast fuel" should be primarily carbohydrates to top off muscle energy stores. Sports drinks or a small handful of gummy chews work well.

Tips for Away Games:

Pack Smart: Venues often have limited or unhealthy food options. Packing your athlete's own lunch, snacks, and drinks ensures they get the proper fuel.

Hydration is Key: Remind them to drink plenty of water on the bus ride and throughout the day. Dehydration can severely impact performance.

No Relying on Concessions: Planning ahead and packing a cooler can save you money and keep your athlete properly fueled for their game.
