Without Health You Cannot Enjoy Your Wealth

I was 18 years of age, half way through my second year as a trainee nurse. My throat was so sore I could not swallow. My temperature was so high I was ‘out of it’. My body ached so much I didn’t know what position to lie in. The diagnosis of Glandular Fever, after a week in hospital, had me off work for further three months.

Over the next 12 years, I was always tired. Shift work and the rigorous demands of nursing didn’t help. My co-workers weren’t that tired though! I didn’t think to look at nutrition: I just put up with it. Having to go to bed early every night, take naps late in the day after late shifts the day before became my ‘normal’. It wasn’t until the birth of our first two daughters, that my immune system completely broke down and I experienced chronic fatigue, chronically painful muscles and life as a young mother was anything but joyful.

Some years later I consulted a naturopath. She taught me about toxins in foods (and many other products in our lives!) and the connection between these toxins and sub-standard health and well-being. i spent the next twelve months making changes to my lifestyle that reduced the acidity in my body, gradually eliminated the toxins and day by day, week by week, month by month I healed my body.

Now, some 38 years later, I have amazing health. The wealth in my life includes the ability to dance my beloved Nia, to bush walk, to keep up with my grandchildren’s activities. To travel Australia in our Motorhome and choose in every given moment what to do next...sight-see, consult, chat to people, be silent, run a workshop.
