Finding Hope at Home, Highlighting Two of Our Frontline Heroes: Dr. Zollinger & Dr. Bland 🌟

We are deeply grateful for Dr. Zollinger and Dr. Bland, whose unwavering commitment to the Louisiana Cancer Foundation has made a powerful impact on the lives of countless patients and families across our region.

Not only do they consistently support LCF through sponsorships and generous donations, but they also stand on the front line in the fight against cancer every single day as dedicated Radiation Oncologists.

Their compassion, expertise, and service extend far beyond the treatment room—they inspire hope. They restore strength. And they remind us what true community leadership looks like. 💛💜🩵🩷

Our Story

One of the most effective tools in our extensive arsenal against cancer is radiation therapy. What is Radiation Therapy? Radiation Therapy is the use of ionizing radiation (high energy x-rays) to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. Radiation Therapy injures or destroys cells in the area being treated (target) by damaging their genetic material, making it impossible for these cells to continue to grow and divide. Radiation can be used to destroy the entire tumor (curative) or to shrink the tumor and relieve painful symptoms (palliative). Approximately 50% of all people with cancer are treated with Radiation Therapy. The Institute's range of cancer care and support services and resources include: Radiation Oncology Tumor Board Conferences Tumor Registry (with lifetime patient follow-up counseling) Support Groups Hospice Referral Nutrition Support Social Work support and counseling Financial Counseling Community Screenings and Educational Programs
