Big thanks to The Archie Foundation Tayside for their support to our service which ultimately is all about helping children and Young people across Tayside 😀 🙏🏻 ✈️

We’re so proud to support the incredible team of allied health professionals at NHS Tayside NHS Tayside Children and Young People's Physiotherapy Service who go that extra mile to think of creative, child friendly ways to incorporate physio!

It makes our day when we receive feedback like this from the team on the impact that the funded resources from The Archie Foundation are having! 🥰💕

‘’We had a lovely oncology clinic on Monday and got to use a few of our new items funded by The Archie Foundation Tayside.

Our new glider planes went down an absolute treat! The children loved them and we got to do ‘sneaky physio’ adding in different challenges all while they thought they were just throwing planes at my face 🤣

One of the children who was initially reluctant, warmed up to the activity after seeing the planes, and at the end, he said he had a great time and wants to do it again next week.

We had a lovely group going of kids with various diagnoses and various function involving mobility and vision but we were able to adapt and get them all playing together and provide a bit of fun, physio and distraction from being in clinic.

The parents all got to get together and have some adult time and just watch their kids play and have fun! The nurses also commented that they loved watching us play in clinic, thank you!’’ Gina, Paediatric Physiotherapist, Acute Child Health Physiotherapy.

Child Health Physiotherapy Assessment Day (CHPAD) - An Innovative Initiative 🤩

The Child Health Physiotherapy Team carried out a patient assessment day on 20 May 2025, which aimed to streamline assessments for children on the physiotherapy waiting list.

The day involved six physiotherapists, 4 support workers, and a podiatrist shadowing at Perth Royal Infirmary’s Sunflower Centre.

Each patient underwent a structured journey including assessment, guided exercises, and follow-up advice, supported by pre-prepared resources and dedicated staff roles to ensure smooth flow and feedback collection. Podiatry offered on-the-spot advice and accepted referrals on the day. 29 patients attended with their parents/carers.

Feedback from children, families and staff was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting good communication, great teamwork, patients/families felt listened to, and valued the "one-stop shop" approach.

Plans are underway to repeat this event with increased participation, holding days in various Tayside localities and inviting other partners to be involved. Our next one takes place in Dundee in August and we hope will be just as successful 🙂
