Dreams do come true. When I started my lab 18 years ago in my garage, I would dream of one day being able to attend courses taught by the master dental lab technicians of our industry. Today, I'm glad to announce that Dental Esthetics by Lor will be hosting our very first course in our newly built training facility with world renown Oral Design member Stefan Picha for a 2-day hands on course on October 24 & 25. Not only is he an amazing technician with amazing skills, Stefan is an even better human being. A CAN NOT MISS course for anyone wanting to level up their skills with top-notch, but humble talent! Dentistry gets emotional. Lately, I have gotten to see many young patients who have been thru so much ridicule and lived the embarrassment of what they think is an ugly smile all their lives. It’s been traumatic, and just when they think they have saved enough money to afford the necessary treatment to fix their teeth, they get presented with a treatment plan that sends them right back into trying to accept their ugly smile a little longer. Luckily, we have a great team that enjoys restoring confidence back into these wonderful individuals that are ready to take on the world.

It’s not often I get my tail kicked in on difficult cases, but this one took me for a ride. Not even close to perfect, but very acceptable from where we began. She already bought a couple of new dresses to celebrate her new smile and shine bright like the star she is!

Less is more. When you’ve put in over 25+ years into learning your craft of dental ceramics (Yes, I’m that old 😭 since 1999), you eventually have to let your work speak for itself. Not every patient is a Hollywood smile. Everyone deserves their own version of a beautiful smile, whatever that may be.

I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with DENTAL ESTHETICS BY LOR LLC on a series of videos celebrating their 17th anniversary. Before meeting Pheng Lor, I had no idea the transformative power of cosmetic dentistry.

Pheng's dedication to his craft shines through in every smile he creates. This project opened my eyes to the profound impact his work has on people's lives, boosting their confidence and well-being. Congratulations to Dental Esthetics by Lor on 17 years of incredible service!

Giving someone their confidence back is the hardest thing I encounter with every new smile I work on. Every scenario is different. Every clinician has a different skill set. Every patient has a different story. Every case calls for a different material. Every restoration is a learning experience towards the next complex case.

I was blessed with a visitor who stopped by today to express her gratitude for changing her life. No more partials to pop in and out of her mouth before eating. No more hiding her smile. She told me how many compliments she’s getting from everyone from family and friends to dental professionals during recent dental cleanings. But just seeing her smile and the newfound energy she has was worth every extra hour spent in fabricating her Maryland bridges. Changing lives is what we do at Dental Esthetics by Lor, and I approve this message. -Pheng Lor

Your smile sparks joy. Your confidence is everything.

I had the pleasure of being involved with this case that we did pro bono for a young gal. Her and her family had just recently moved to the States from Mexico. After several restorative attempts with partial dentures, someone was nice enough to make a monetary donation to allow the placement of two dental implants and the restorative work for this gal. I was solicited by a recently retired friend who would only accept restoring the case if I helped. It was only right that I did my utmost best to give this gal the best possible new smile and give her confidence that had been absent most of her young adult life. Though not perfect, still life-changing.

When I handed her the mirror for a very first look at her new smile, she immediately turned over to look at her mother and both became teary-eyed with emotions. Then the whole office followed suit with emotions. ❤️

Community work is something we cherish and take seriously. You can either sit on the sidelines and just complain, or you can roll up your sleeves and make a difference. Morgan N Xeng Her (along with a few others) is definitely one of these guys that isn’t afraid to get dirty to make a difference in the community. When asked to help support Hmong Soccer Kids SummerFest, we did not hesitate to do our part.

Growing up, we didn’t have much. My first experience in organized soccer would require purchasing soccer gear on top of the registration fee. It’s a lot to ask of my parents given the other 5 siblings’ needs. Besides buying the cheapest pair of Adidas cleats I could afford, my friends were nice enough to give me their old pairs of shin guards and soccer socks to start out. I’ll never forget this kind gesture from Ben Becker and Jon Petersen. So over the years, I have been collecting various soccer gear like balls, shin guards and recently many pairs of Adidas Predators. In memory of my son, Gavin Lor, I made a request of Morgan. With his platform, I asked of Morgan to please help distribute these soccer gear to those families (who share my similar struggles) in developing a new generation of soccer players in our community. We had visitors from Prairie Seeds Academy this afternoon. Dental Esthetics by Lor is proud to be a sponsor of this year’s Bass fishing team supplying them with fishing tackle, gear, and other accessories. Growing up, our parents stressed only the importance of education and constant studying. These kids are so lucky to have this opportunity that was absent from our adolescent years. Who wouldn’t want to be part of a bass fishing team instead of studying 24/7? Good luck, Prairie Seeds Academy in your very first bass fishing tournament next week! Make us proud!
