I completed the equivalent of plant brain surgery tonight while transplanting the rest of the babies. For anyone who has never tried to separate the root structures of two established seedlings with their second sets of true leaves, it's tedious to say the least. I took a few pictures along the way showing just how complex, and fragile, the root system is. All said and done, I managed a succesful operation, and these two Maldivian Lemons should thrive!

Also, everybody is finally transplanted into their new intermediate homes. One of the new varieties this year is the Pippin's Golden Honey pepper (blue cups, purple leaves). These have ZERO heat but are incredibly sweet and flavorful. Should round out the flavor profile of the dust to make it even tastier!

24hrs after transplanting (some) of the peppers, we are all looking healthy and happy!

Definitely a downsize from the jungle I had last year, but I couldn't keep up with the roughly 120 plants I had. It was just too much to harvest, process, and dehydrate with mostly only the evenings to work in. I ended up with a LOT of peppers still on the plants which were left to rot. This year, I'm sticking with roughly 70 plants, which will be much more manageable and still provide approximately the same overall yield.

Also, I have been hearing a lot of people asking for Devil Dust. It WILL be back in stock shortly. I will post on here when it's available, but there should be some within the next couple weeks.

I spread probably a literal ton of rabbit poo on the garden today. Some of it has been cooking all winter (4th pic) and it looks like some mighty fine compost. Got some help from the birds to mix it up. Two more months and it'll be popping with plants!

"In the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more!"

It is indeed, the midnight hour, and I just finished cutting up another massive batch of peppers for the dehydrator. 12 trays in total, two of which I've pictured below. The lighting is terrible to show the true color, but those are peach reapers (though they look a bit yellow in the picture). The other is a full tray of scorpions. Also, I added a pic of my current supply of dried Aji Charapitas, which is a whopping 3.7 ounces.

Until next time!

I got all (that I picked at least) the Aji Charapitas in the dehydrator currently. That may look like a lot, and it is, but once dried, this whole batch will only total a couple ounces of powder!

4 hours later, and not even halfway done with all the plants, but that's all she wrote for today. The bucket on the right is all reapers, and the bucket at the back is all reapers other than a few habanadas on top. Talk about some heat!!!

Long, LONG night! Spent the last 5 hours (is it really almost 2am?!?) processing the peppers I picked this week, and still not even finished! I ran out of room in the dehydrator though (it's literally packed to the gills), so the rest will have to wait til this round finishes. This is by far the largest single batch I've processed to date.

Check out all those Aji Charapitas though! I've taken to just calling them PITA's, because they are a royal pain in the ass to both pick AND de-stem (which makes sense as to why they are so expensive).

This batch also has the Peach Reapers in it. I took a little sample of one, and it was absolutely intense...definitely felt hotter than a normal Reaper. I may powder some individually, if someone is crazy enough to want it (seriously, it hurt me, and that's saying something).

Still have about a 5 gal bucket of Reapers, Scorpions, Scotch Bonnets and Fatalii's to get through, and there looks to be just as many that are gonna be ripening this coming week. September is always the most productive month, and it's holding true.

Til next time!!!

Finally got around to making some fresh, homemade salsa with my peppers. All I used was three red jalapenos and a Leutschauer Paprika, but it's got a surprisingly strong kick to it!
