Our Story

The Eye Institute OD, P.A. (TEI) was originally started by Dr. Tim Poirier in 1997 as Knightdale Eye Care in Knightdale, NC . In 2017 Dr. Adam Palo partnered with Dr. Poirier and they began expanding the practice to multiple locations. It was at that time that our name became The Eye Institute OD, P.A.

At TEI, we believe in providing eye health care that is thorough and delivered with compassion. We believe in investing in state-of-the-art machinery that allows us to test for, monitor, and treat ocular disease. At The Eye Institute we are so much more than glasses and contact lenses prescriptions! We love the medical aspect of optometry and we continue to build our practice around staying true to our training and to what made optometry our passion from the beginning.

TEI is also dedicated to offering eye wear that stands apart from our competitors. When you walk into our optical dispensaries you'll find a large variety of artisan eye wear. These are pieces from independent frame designers whose creative passion is designing eye wear and nothing else! The quality of our products is apparent as you inspect the handmade pieces- they look different, they feel different, they have quality hinge designs, are made of the highest quality Mazzucchelli plastics and metals, and they have curves and angles in all of the most flattering places.
