Update… where do we begin

Zavier was taken off the breathing tube, and it was one of the scariest moments of our life. The doctors weren’t sure if he would be able to breathe on his own once it was removed. When the tube came out, it caused his right lung to collapse completely. His neck muscles and throat were very weak, and he couldn’t keep his airway open.

They had to put him on a machine that forces air into his lungs, and also insert a device through his nose to help keep his tongue forward so he could breathe. There was talk of putting another breathing tube back in, but it was extremely risky.

This past week has been a rollercoaster — so many scary, down moments. Zavier also developed three different infections in his lungs. But our beautiful boy is a fighter, and he is still fighting.

Over the weekend, they were able to switch him onto the machine we use at home, and he is doing really well on it. They’ve also removed the device from his nose, and he is now managing to keep his airway open with just a little support from different head positions.

He is becoming more alert and has started moving his arms again.

We still have a long way to go, and Zavier is definitely not out of the woods yet. But this just shows what a little warrior he truly is. He is our inspiration.

Our beautiful boy is awake. We are not out of the woods yet. Tomorrow, they would like to take the tube out, so it will be touch and go.

Please pray for a miracle and that our baby will keep breathing.

As you all know Zavier is in ICU. Unfortunately at this time his dystonia has taken over, his brain is not telling his body to breathe the way it should, the signals are interupted and so far treatments have not worked. As a result it was decided today to re-intubate him so he can rest and the doctors can do more tests without stressing him further. He is sleeping peacefully and has a lot of love and support around him. We'll know more early next week so for now please join us in sending him warm positive healing energy ❤️❤️💜💜💚💚

!!!!TRIGGER WARNING!!!!

Hi everyone,
Yesterday was the worst scare of our lives.
Zavier went into a breath-holding episode and didn’t take another breath. We had to start CPR immediately. He was rushed to the closest hospital.
When we arrived at the hospital, it happened again. The doctors made the decision to intubate him and place him into an induced coma to help his little body rest and stay stable.
Today they removed the breathing tube. Sadly, shortly after it was removed, he went straight back into seizures and breath-holding episodes. The team had to manually bag him several times and give him emergency rescue medications. They were preparing to incubate him again, but he eventually settled and went back to sleep.
Right now, we are waiting to see what happens when he wakes up.
We are taking this minute by minute. Please keep Zavier in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate every bit of love and support more than you know. 🤍
