Root Cause To Wellness It is in the 'how' and 'when' that our unique journey emerges. My journey into oils started when my husband was diagnosed with irreversible nerve damage.

Welcome to my page dedicated to a journey to understand the root cause to disease, which is unique in each individual even though there are foundations of healing that we must all embrace. I refuse to give up and write off the rest of his life as being in absolute never ending high levels of pain. I refuse. My refusal lead me down the path to essential oils and eventually to functional medicine.

No matter where you are in your journey to true health empowerment, I want to invite you to take it with us. Over the years, we have almost taken for granted the healing we've found. The empowerment. From digestive support to sleep to dealing with too much pollen in the air to everyday aches and pains to just not feeling motivated or passionate about the tasks ahead, we find support in little amber bottles of pure essential oils. From a functional medicine standpoint, oils make sense as well. Our bodies know what to do with them - just like they know what to do with a nice leafy salad. The oils complement and often make easier the life choices we need to be making to best serve out bodies. I so adore that I am in a position to bring both of these gifts to everyone via this page and those who join my oil family in a sister group with more expanded knowledge (and a select few that chose to work with me one on one in functional medicine for a deeper more guided journey).

My private and group clients know that I can go on and on and on about the power of the breath, but when this came up in my morning lecture I knew I just had to share it with you all.

When you feel overwhelmed or stressed or sad, pay attention to how you are breathing (if you are breathing...maybe you are holding your breath) and make a conscious decision to take deep belly breaths. Your nervous system will thank you!

One of my favorite things to do when I see an opinion article that is against anything that would make a person more self-aware of how their choices could be positively or negatively be impacting their health....is to go see who is funding the person writing the article.

Not shocked to see pharma listed. And a strong bias that the CGM (continuous glucose monitor) should be worn only by people using insulin and not those who are diet controlled. What better way to make sure you are truly diet controlled than to see the impact of your diet on your blood sugar?!

I'm a big fan of utilizing a CGM and love that anyone can buy them now without an RX in the US.

I wear one every so often to see how my choices impact my blood sugar levels.

I've seen how the order in which I eat my meals allows me to mitigate the spike that even healthy produce would otherwise give me (and, yes, learned how to avoid the spike when I have a rare treat).

I've watched how exercise after a meal (or before it) can flatten a quick glucose rise.

And I've seen proof that the same exact meal can have minimal to massive impact on my blood sugar based on the quality and quantity of my previous night's sleep - which we are taught in functional medicine training, but to actually SEE it? Pretty damned cool.

And I've also learned that I, personally, don't feel a difference between a functionally optimal range and one just a little too high and causing stress on my body, which means I could be making poor choices for the years that it takes for a diagnosable condition to develop and not even know it!

Cellular hydration doesn’t happen by water alone.

Adding salt and electrolytes to your water can be a game changer. It’s important to know that unprocessed salt isn’t the same as what you find in processed foods, and that all electrolytes aren’t created equally.

What’s the right amount for you? It depends on your diet and your adrenals. But it doesn’t have to feel like a mystery. Your body will tell you once you learn how to listen.

An impossible task - summing up in less than 1000 characters the impact Jennifer Savage has had in your life. You of course have to mention H pylori and her amazing laugh.

I’m very honored to have been chosen to be a breakout speaker at this year’s Symposium!

The overall theme of my talk is to answer the most pressing questions people have about adding in healthy habits, and how they impact your overall wellness. I find with my group and private clients, that simply understanding WHY and HOW making one decision over another is better for your health, can be the inspiration that you need to keep going.

Ah, the cholesterol hypothesis....most likely a full on myth. The iodine lie pi**es me off more, but the cholestrol one has harmed more people because of what statins do to the body.

NOTE: I am NOT saying you should ignore medical advice - am saying you should do research unless your life is literally hanging in the balance and you need stabilization.

One of my favorite books on the subject is below. Thankfully I've read it and understand the link between illness, adrenal function, and cholesterol levels and was able to shut down my doctor when she had a fit over my labs and tried to push statins despite the fact that I was way too close to a really nasty illness that would have naturally driven up my levels as my body healed. I don't blame her. Conventional docs aren't taught how to put the whole picture together.

Saturday Hydration Rant Incoming!!

Not being able to drink any water in the hours before bed because otherwise you have to get up and p*e does NOT necessarily mean you are well hydrated and your kidneys are working well and this is a 'good thing'.

It's time to stop normalizing unhealthy health behaviors. Just because it's common, doesn't mean it's healthy.

Just like "I p**p regularly" means nothing if your regular is once every few days or once a week. And yes, p**ping and hydration go hand in hand. Several clients have felt relief from chronic constipation (i.e. not p**ping daily) just by learning how to hydrate properly. We actually have a reflex that signals p**ping after every meal.

If it feels like "ounces in = ounces out" then you aren't hydrated. You are just drinking water.

A journey to wellness

Like most, my journey started with a simple question – is there another option? Another option to spending hundreds of dollars on sick care? Another option to hours missed from school and work sitting in urgent care or at a doctor’s visit hoping to get some relief and answers but often left feeling frustrated and unheard?
