But when it’s time to receive, rest, help, nourishment, something inside hesitates.

Ever notice how, after a short night of sleep, the cravings feel louder the next day?

The sugar, the salt, the extra coffee...they all seem harder to resist.

And I get it.

As a professional, a leader, or an entrepreneur, the work rarely ends when the clock says it should.

There’s always another project, another deadline, another idea to finish. Before you know it, the hours have slipped away, and you’re still at your desk late into the night.

It isn’t that you suddenly lost discipline.

What’s really happening is deeper: poor sleep throws off your body’s hunger signals.

The hormone that says “I’m hungry” (ghrelin) rises, while the one that says “I’m satisfied” (leptin) drops. No wonder it feels like you can’t get enough.

✨ Here’s the truth:
It isn’t weakness.
It’s your body trying to keep up without the rest it was designed to need.

The good news? You don’t have to overhaul everything to see a difference.

Even small shifts, such as turning off screens earlier, creating a calming wind-down ritual, or giving yourself permission to stop working sooner, can begin to reset those signals.

And here’s the reminder I want you to carry into tonight:
Rest is not something you earn after doing enough.
Rest is God’s gift to you.

➡️You turn to food when you're stressed or overwhelmed because that's the coping mechanism you've developed over years.

➡️Your brain has learned to see food as safety,

and honestly, that makes complete sense.

Here's what changes everything:

God did it! 🙌🏾

Recently, I stood before a congregation to deliver a powerful sermon on Building Healthy Families.

And despite the fear, God showed up in ways I never imagined.

Sis,

Sis, let's talk about why summer changes everything about your appetite!

Have you ever felt guilty for not being as hungry during these hot summer months?

Your body isn't broken; it's brilliant!

When temperatures rise, your body naturally reduces its appetite as a protective mechanism.

You need less internal heat from digestion, so you crave less food.

This is God-given wisdom built right into how He designed you, not a problem to solve.

But diet culture tells us to eat the same portions year-round, completely ignoring what our bodies actually need.

We force ourselves to finish meals when our body is saying "enough," then feel guilty when we can't.

What if the fear of trusting your body is keeping you from the very peace God wants you to have?

Sis, God has not given you a spirit of fear.

That includes the fear of trusting your own body.

You've been afraid to listen to what your body needs.
- Afraid you'll make the "wrong" choice.
- Afraid you can't be trusted with food.
- Afraid your body will betray you.

But God created your body with incredible wisdom.

He designed it to communicate with you.

The fear you feel about trusting yourself?
That's not from Him.

𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿:
- Start with prayer and curiosity.
- Ask God to help you listen without judgment.
- Notice hunger without immediately acting.
- What does it feel like in your body?
- Where do you feel it?
- How does it change throughout the day?
- Practice eating when you're hungry (when possible).
- Notice how food tastes when you're truly hungry versus when you're not.
- Check in with fullness...not to restrict, but to connect with what God created.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: This is not about perfection.

It's about trusting that God equipped your body to guide you.

Some days you'll eat for emotional reasons, and that's okay.

You're learning to partner with God in caring for the body He gave you.
That takes time and patience.

𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: God's power, love, and sound mind extend to every area of your life, including your relationship with food.

Trust Him to guide you back to the wisdom He placed within you.

Have you ever watched birds eat?

They don't measure their seeds or stress about portion sizes.
They don't keep complicated charts or feel guilty about their choices.
They simply trust that God will provide what they need, when they need it
..and He does, faithfully, every single day.

You are infinitely more precious to your Heavenly Father than the sparrows He feeds so lovingly.

He knows your needs better than any plan or program ever could.

Let's learn from the birds.

Trust His heart for you.
His love isn't measured or counted.
It's abundant, unconditional, and perfectly sufficient. 🙏🏾💕

I am an Integrative Nutrition Holistic Health Coach and I help Christian Women Entrepreneurs like you step into their greatness to become the healthiest version of themselves so they can have more energy to show up and do the work God has called them to do. My main area of support is lowering the intake of processed and sugary foods, because I found this to be the main area many struggle with.

God has already given you His blessing in 3 John 2. He says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may prosper and be in HEALTH, even as your soul prospers”.

As an entrepreneur who wears many other hats such as wife, mom, sister, friend, healthcare quarterback of your family, and everything in between it’s no wonder you are left with a lackluster effort when it comes to your own health. Unfortunately, that often means over consumption of processed and sugary foods, not getting enough sleep, just to name a few. I know this because I’ve been there. I especially understand the struggles when it comes to sugar.

But when you begin to understand that your body is the temple of God, you realize the importance of taking care of your well being first in order to effectively care for others. You’re no use to anyone when you’re stretched too thin and have no energy.
