In the piece, Brady and Richmond emphasize the need to ensure dialysis patients and their families have the protections they rightfully deserve, highlighting the legislation as "an opportunity to signal we really can work together to make lives better for patients and their families.”

The Kidney Care Access Coalition – a coalition of patient advocacy, disability, and kidney care organizations – is proud to support H.R. 6860, the Restore Protections for Dialysis Patients Act introduced this week by Representative Mike Kelly, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Congressman Danny K. Davis, Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D., Congressman John Joyce, and Congressman Raul Ruiz, MD

Dialysis is incredibly difficult, and we strongly believe public policy should not make life any harder for these patients, many of whom are from historically marginalized communities and who have co-occurring chronic health conditions.

The legislation, introduced on a strong bipartisan basis, will go a long way in protecting dialysis patients and their families around the country – by ensuring that these patients have choice in their coverage and that group health plans cannot discriminate against ESRD patients and their families.
