Bethany Kiresten Smith was born in September of 2000 then diagnosed with Diabetes in July of 2006. Thankfully, she has only been in the Emergency room once in March of 2014 due to high glucose levels. Kiresten has a Medtronic MiniMed pump which gives her insulin 24 hours a day as well as attempts to accommodate carbs from her meals. Although the pump has made her life much easier, there is still margin for error. They can smell incoming high or low glucose levels and alert the person until the person takes action.
