My War Against Breast Cancer I've created this page to help my friends and family keep up to date with my war against breast cancer and will be posting information about breast cancer.

This is a very monumental year for me...
And it began with March 30, 2015
I was informed that I had a "mass" and that I needed a biopsy to find out what kind of breast cancer I had.
I called my Mum from the parking lot of the medical center, crying, to tell her I had cancer only 3 years after my father died from pancreatic cancer.
She told me she would be going with me to the biopsy in 4 days.
I had no idea what to tell me 2 teenage sons.

10 years later I am still cancer free and living my best life with my husband, family and friends.

Today is October 1.
That means you will begin to see pink everywhere. In the stores, on football fields, in commercials.
I completely support breast cancer awareness and early detection since I am a Survivor. Whenever you put on a pink ribbon this month,
I want you to really think about the person BEHIND the ribbon you are wearing. Behind that ribbon is a person... a strong person, who has been through complete hell and back... a person who has tried to keep everything "normal" around the house when absolutely nothing was normal.
Possibly a woman who fought to still feel like a woman even though her hair was gone, her eyebrows and eyelashes were gone, and her breasts were either amputated or part of one removed.
Behind that ribbon is a woman that has or is fighting for her life...through chemo, radiation and many surgeries, that woman is fighting with all of her might.
Please, when you wear that ribbon this month, remember that behind that ribbon is a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend. You are bringing awareness to a disease that affects so many.

It's more than just a ribbon.

I am behind that ribbon, even after 9 years of being cancer free. 😁

(And please don't forget the men who battle breast cancer as well)

Today was my 53rd birthday.
I'm thrilled to still being alive after fighting breast cancer 8 years ago.

On the mend and feeling pretty decent.
