‼️🤝🏻 Collaboration is Key: Uniting the World for Better Cancer Care

No single organization, country, or expert can solve the challenges of cancer care alone. True progress comes when we work together—across borders, disciplines, and sectors. This video compilation captures powerful insights from global leaders who share a common goal: ensuring collaboration drives real change for patients everywhere.💜

ICPC is proud to foster these vital connections, and our commitment to uniting experts and advocates was evident at two major high-level events we co-hosted this year:

🇮🇳 In India, at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences (SHUATS), ICPC co-hosted the High-Level Political Summit, an event that brought together policymakers, patient advocates, and youth leaders to discuss equity in cancer care. The signing of the Declaration of Cooperation reinforced a shared commitment to access and innovation, ensuring that patient voices remain at the heart of policy decisions.

🇪🇬 In Cairo, Egypt, during BGICC 2025, we supported a transformative summit that resulted in a groundbreaking agreement among Arab nations to collaborate on cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. The energy and commitment displayed by leaders from across the MENA region underscored the importance of regional cooperation in tackling cancer.

These summits were not just discussions—they were calls to action. 🚀 Now, it’s up to all of us to turn commitments into reality. By breaking silos, sharing knowledge, and amplifying patient voices, we can drive meaningful and lasting impact.

🤖 Trustworthy AI: Transforming Cancer Care in Asia-Pacific 🎗️

At the International Cancer Patient Coalition Asia-Pacific Summit, Prof. Karim Lekadir delivered powerful insights on the role of AI in revolutionizing cancer care—from early detection to personalized treatment. He highlighted that for AI to truly make an impact, it must be transparent, fair, explainable, and robust.

💡 A major takeaway was FUTURE-AI, a globally recognized framework (featured in The BMJ) that provides clear ethical guidelines for developing inclusive, patient-centered AI in healthcare. It emphasizes stakeholder engagement, data representativeness, and continuous monitoring to ensure safe and equitable AI adoption.

🚀 Of course, challenges remain—data accessibility, supportive policies, and industry collaboration are key to success. But through strong networks, education, and innovation, we can build AI solutions that truly benefit patients & healthcare professionals.

🙏 A huge thank you to Prof. Karim Lekadir for sharing his expertise and helping us shape a more trustworthy and inclusive AI-driven future in oncology!

Patients must be at the center of every decision in cancer care.🎗

True progress happens when we listen to those who are directly impacted. Their voices must not only be included but prioritized in shaping policies, research, and treatment strategies.

At ICPC, we are committed to ensuring that patient perspectives drive meaningful change in healthcare. By working together—patients, advocates, healthcare professionals, and policymakers—we can create a system that truly serves those who need it most.

Let’s build a future where no patient feels unheard or overlooked. Because meaningful change starts with listening.💜

👥 Empowering Patients: The Heart of Cancer Care

At the High-Level Political Summit at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences (SHUATS), one message was clear: Patients must be at the center of every decision in cancer care.

For too long, healthcare systems have been designed around institutions, not individuals. It’s time to change that.

💜 Putting Patients First:
✅ Patient-Led Molecular Tumor Boards – Giving patients a voice in their treatment through personalized, data-driven care.
✅ Stronger Advocacy Networks – Supporting patient organizations to drive policy changes and improve access.
✅ Localized Research & Community Engagement – Ensuring treatments are accessible and culturally relevant.
✅ Shared Decision-Making – Moving beyond doctor-led care to patient-empowered choices.

In the words of Dr. Vivek Subbiah, Chair of ICPC’s North American Coalition: “The patient is the center of the universe in the whole ecosystem in oncology.”

Cancer care isn’t just about medicine—it’s about people. When we empower patients, we don’t just improve outcomes; we transform lives.

💡 How can we better integrate patient voices into cancer care? Share your thoughts! 👇

🏛 Athens, February 6th, 2025 – Nicola di Flora represented ICPC at the 9th Annual ELLOK Conference, where key stakeholders gathered to move “From Planning to Implementation” in cancer care.

Timed with World Cancer Day, Nicola emphasized the 3Is—Innovation, Investment, and Incentives—as essential pillars for progress, drawing from Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the Align, Act, Accelerate strategy.

A key moment was meeting with the Greek Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, to discuss:
🔹 Innovation – Advancing diagnostics, treatments & digital tools.
🔹 Investment – Strengthening healthcare systems for faster patient access.
🔹 Incentives – Encouraging collaboration to shape the future of cancer care.

💬 “Cancer care needs bold steps today, not tomorrow. The 3Is can turn innovation into life-saving impact.”

📢 A huge thank you to ELLOK & George Kapetanakis for hosting this transformative event! Together, we’re driving real change in cancer care.
