Went to Seoul Korea recently. Went to the skincare and cosmetic area. Discovered a new kind of skin scrub combining balsamic vinegar, basil extract and honey. My best friend bought a bottle and we both tried it out. Being in our late 50s means that skincare that works becomes more crucial. The product worked very well. Without ant harsh elements in it, it managed to slough off a lot of dead skin and after a rinse, the skin looked fresh and bright, yet still supple and moist. Time to use these natural ingredients in our future blend/scrub.

50 grams of black soap, if used only for washing the face, can last many months if kept dry between uses. It's pliable and melts easily in water. If it doesn't, it's not real black soap.

African Black Soap : these days it's getting more and more difficult to source black soap that is free of shea butter. Some people are mildly allergic to Shea butter. Symptoms can vary. Personally, shea butter make my skin itch but Im fine with cocoa butter. For that reason I would recommend anyone using black soap for the first time to do a allergy test on the inner arm or ankle area (not the face). If you feel itching or any redness develops, stop using it.

Pure Olive Castille Soap

Our castille soap (read more about Castille soap here) is handmade in Australia and USA. 100% natural, sulphate free, fragrance free and colorant free.

Olive oil has been used in soap making for thousands of years. It naturally contains antioxidant vitamins A and E. These vitamins protect the skin cells from free radicals as well as stimulating them to renew and repair damage. Olive oil is an emollient, working to moisturize your skin and hair. This soap is excellent for sensitive skin, baby skin, sufferers of eczema and psoriasis and skin of cancer patients undergoing radio or chemo therapy. Such therapy makes the skin super dry, thin and prone to infections.

The other two ingredients combined with the vegetable and fruit oils to create the chemical reaction of saponification are water and sodium hydroxide, or lye. Lye is a highly alkali substance. Once saponification occurs, there is no lye left as it has been chemically converted to become soap. Adding more oils results in a “super-fatted” soap. This means that while the soap cleans one’s skin, a thin layer of oils that protect from bacteria and other environmental irritants is retained. It also means that the skin feels silky smooth instead of dry and tight.

This soap is so pure that you can save money by mixing it half & half with distilled water (available in supermarkets) and it will still foam naturally and clean superbly! You get twice as much soap for the price of one order !!

Original Alata Samina is made using Plantain Skins, Cocoa Pods, Natural Salt, unrefined palm oil and lye. It does not contain any SLS (sulphates), artificial colour, fragrances or fillers. We do not ever purchase black soap from commercial companies or distributors in Asia as they mainly supply or sell fake black soap, or black soap adulterated with perfumes, fragrance oils and coloring. These are cheaper but are damaging to the skin and provide no therapeutic benefits to users at all. We do not want to participate in these commercial deceptions, thus our policy to only purchase from the original source. FYI, black soap with shea is not original but a American/European style re-concoction. True black soap does not contain shea or any other butters.
