This quote from Ken Ravizza is spot on!

Athletes often try to adjust elements within their performance, like emotional control or regulation, but neglect to work on control outside of sport.

Learning to enhance self-awareness will assist an athlete in understanding more about themselves and how they respond to certain environments and triggers. Getting that data can then help them learn more about how to self-regulate and what doesn’t work for them. That final step of controlling performance occurs after the athlete has put in the work of self-discovery.

These performance psychology strategies can help athletes become more mindful and present during a time when they may feel like a lot is outside of their control.

Read this post to learn more about these strategies.

What mental strategies have you used to help you navigate injury/surgery?
