The Buddha’s teaching on the generosity of offering music:

2.­23
“How do bodhisattvas exert themselves in the practice of generosity by offering music? Noble son, bodhisattvas do so by reflecting in this way: ‘Offering music represents the perfection of the divine ear. Therefore, I will definitely practice generosity by offering music!’ When practicing generosity by offering music, bodhisattvas make the following aspiration: ‘In accordance with the aspirations taught by the buddhas, through this offering of music may I cause all beings to perfect the divine ear!’ [F.86.a] Regarding this, there are also some concluding verses:

“Through this offering of music,
May I cause all beings
To perfect the divine ear
And progress to the awakening of the buddhas!
2.­25
“Those who offer the sound of music,
Wherever they are born,
Will achieve the renown of the perfect buddhas
And the divine ear of heroic beings.

These two Starseed rough models just arrived in Seattle. I will be guiding one person to build their own Tao Lyre soon in Kirkland. If anyone is inspired to build their own Starseed, you may join us. Or you can order one and I will carve it for you.

Mt Shasta Lyre Building workshop, Sept 26-30th...almost full! One or two spots left, and then the magic begins. As in these photos last fall in Japan, the meditative sounds of knife on wood fill the space, as each model is transformed through love and attention, until the strings begin to sing their transformative song....this time the instruments will spread to Michigan, Texas, Washington, California, and Japan! If your mind follows this reverberation of sound into space, you will know your true nature.

Thanks to everyone who has responded with liking the event Mt Shasta Lyre Building Workshop this September! I've just returned from the Global Inspiration Conference in Joshua Tree, where many of the 250 attendees were introduced to the beautiful healing sound of the Lyres! Including a three month old baby! I hope if you are interested in sound healing and building such a beautiful instrument, you will contact me for more information. Yes, it is an investment to build such an instrument, about $3,000, but many instruments, such as crystal bowls, can cost much more. Plus you will have an amazing experience of building one yourself in a meditative four days, and put your own energy into the process! Everyones faces are always glowing after this experience! It was five days of carving; at times like meditation, at others there arose the chaos of carving with 20 other people in one room. Sometimes it feels like effort, sometimes effortless, as if the knife is carving by itself. Now the room is silent except for the repetitive tapping of knife on wood, like some flock of giant woodpeckers; later the sound of human conversation becomes deafening. In the end, as if by magic on the final day, the strings get tightened, and begin to speak. For the mind to follow the sound and vibrations is to enter deeply into silence and emptiness.
